Just wondering how long it has been since someone staged a production by Gilbert & Sullivan. What was it?
I am mad for "Pirates of Penzance", which I know was on Broadway in the 80s. (I can probably sing/act out the whole thing myself!) and am equally infatuated with "The Mikado"...(I can think of several wonderful guys to cast as "Nanky-poo")
Love "HMS Pinafore" and "Patience" as well...

The New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players have been in existence for 30 years now. They have an annual production season in winter/spring, often at City Center and sometimes at Symphony Space (which is on Broadway in the 90s). They are a group of professional Savoyards who generally present excellent productions. This season they did MIKADO, IOLANTHE, HMS PINAFORE.
The works of Gilbert and Sullivan have been a fixture on NYC stages for nearly 120 years.
They have a website, see the link below

Thanks for the info and the website link. When I make it to NYC (finally) I hope I can see a G&S production, too. I appreciate your help and explanation!
