I really love the score, but have never seen a production! I hope I will be able to see a good staging of it soon.

Did anyone see that Peter Jennings report on ABC last summer about teenagers performing the show in a Colorado suburb? It was an amazing look at former hippie parents/Vietnam vets turned yuppies with their children recreating their parent's experiences. Fascinating!

Peace. Love. Etc.

HAIR is my ALL TIME favorite. my dream is to play chrissy. I was so bummed when they decided to nix the tour that was planned for this year because of greedy producers not giving up rights to certain cities... oy vey.. did anyone see in 1997 or 1998 Third Eye Reps production of HAIR in NYC? I was 14 when I saw it and fell in love... it was the most incredible off off off bway production EVER... the cast rocked.

AGH! Finally someone puts this on the board. HAIR is now my most favourite show to date. And in excatly one week my production company is putting this fantastic show on. I'm playing Jeanie but I'm also singing "Goodmorning Starshine" (which is one of myfavourite songs)re: re: re: re: re: re: re: 'HAIR' I have the original cast recording, London, Australia and the soundtrack from the movie. All have great revisions of the original songs.
This show is completely a mind changing experience once you learn about that exact time in history and what these hippies were going through....how they lived and what they believed in. I've been in quite a few shows, but HAIR has been the most fun, enlightening and amazing all around show I have done!

I love the show. I've seen one fantastic production, one mediocre production, and one really horrendous production. It definitely needs the right touch. Has anyone heard the 2001 Austrian recording (sung in English) with the updated orchestrations? I really like the majority of it. I'll always love the original version, but I was so pleasantly surprised at the updated lift given to the score.

I LOVE THIS SONG! (I hope it's OK to print it here)????

"Aquarius"

When the moon is in the Seventh House
and Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars

This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius
The age of Aquarius
Aquarius! Aquarius!

Harmony and understanding
Sympathy and trust abounding
No more falsehoods or derisions
Golden living dreams of visions
Mystic crystal revelation
And the mind's true liberation
Aquarius! Aquarius!

When the moon is in the Seventh House
and Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars

This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius
The age of Aquarius
Aquarius! Aquarius!

(extra verses from London 1993 production)

As our hearts go beating through the night
We dance unto the dawn of day
To be the bearers of the water
Our light will lead the way

We are the spirit of the age of Aquarius
The age of Aquarius
Aquarius! Aquarius!

Harmony and understanding
Sympathy and trust abounding
Angelic illumination
Rising fiery constellation
Travelling our starry courses
Guided by the cosmic forces
Oh, care for us; Aquarius

LOVE and PEACE and FLOWER POWER FOREVER! LOL!

Hair was one of the most incredible theatrical experiences i have ever been in. Being in the show is undescribable. I was in it--i smooth talked my way in-- at the tender age of 16 and it was truly a life altering experience. When done right this show is insanely powerful and I would love to see a remounting of it on the great white way.

I believe Max von Essen did HAIR.

I've always wanted to play Berger in "Hair". That seems like such a very fun role to play and sing!

sweeedboy you are so right about it completely changing your life to be in this show...theres no other way to describe it.
I wish I was a guy for a few months so I could play Berger in this show. The character is just so free-spirited and "let-go". If a good person plays the character and can show the audience what kind of person Berger is, then the character is terrific. But if you get someone that can't let go then its not the same effect at all.
