Hair Concert-RuPaul?

I was wondering if anyone on this board had any insight or inside info on why RuPaul spaced out during his Hair concert number last year. He even began with the wrong line, he went blank, substituting gibberish and giggles in a song I thought everyone knew. The recording had RuPaul jettisoned in favor of Charles Busch...who was letter perfect. It was an extremely embarrassing moment to witness, and I believe even those on stage felt it. I felt like an audience member in the Springtime for Hitler segment, with my mouth wide open. Of course, part of the fun of these events is the unexpected. But really...

Yes, I would also like to know what happened here. Ru seems like such a confident performer, it was so surprising to witness. Any insights?

I completely forgot this happened, I remember reading Ken Mandelbaum's (wonderful and much-missed) Broadway.com column about the recording and he brought up Charles Busch replacing RuPaul given RuPaul's mess of a performance. I do wonder what happened there, especially since they actually replaced him. Love me some RuPaul, they should have given him "Sodomy" over Jai Rodriguez anyway.
