How about a revival of Applause with Cyndi Lauper as Margo Channing?

I think she would be sensational in that part. Never got to actually see the play with Lauren Bacall, but the Bette Davis classic film its based on All About Eve I own it and love it. I think it would be a great follow-up for Cyndi Lauper after The Three PennyOpera closes.

I love Lauper, but she's COMPLETELY the wrong type for Margo Channing.

APPLAUSE is a terribly mediocre show. They tried a revival about ten years ago at Papermill Playhouse starring Stefanie Powers - announced as pre Broadway and it quickly closed. The show is dated and just isn't worth a full revival. Maybe Encores will do it.

Margo, I giggled a little bit reading your post.

And I agree with Michael Bennett, we really don't need a revival of "Applause". Let's revive a good musical that needs a revival (like "Me and My Girl".)

Yeah I was thinking the same thing Michael Bennett, I mean the music is okay, but it would need to be updated and the songs would have to be tweaked in order for there to be a viable revival of the show. And then of course you would have to find an amazing person to fill Lauren/Bette's shoes.
