I Love You Because - Opening Night!

I finally saw this show tonight, and, well, it's simply wonderful. The book and lyrics keep the audience smiling, if not laughing, but are also heartfelt and warm without being too cliche or trite. The music is classy and delightful and catchy in a musical theatre sense; there are a few songs that won't leave your head so easily. Because of how the theatre is set up, the staging is really interesting. Each member of the cast fits his or her role and brings so much life to the show. This is the perfect show for a date or for an enjoyable evening with friends, and it will only improve and become tighter as previews continue. It's uplifting and there's a character for everybody to relate to, to laugh both at and with. Go see it!

You're going to love it, kook! It should be easy to get rush tickets. You can't get them untill a half hour/20 minutes before the show, but they should be available, and when they can sell them to you, they should be good seats because they're able to release some. You can check earlier that day to make sure that they should have them avaiable if you want.
(The $20 tickets are the rush tickets, muscle, just so you know. Unless you go to the Saturday night performance at 10pm.)

Posted: 1/29/06 at 9:52pmI also saw the 7pm performance on the 28th and I can't wait to go back again. You leave with such a good feeling. All of the actors were great and their voices blended so well together. We got David Austin's autograph while he was running to get a piece of pizza in the 30 minutes between shows. He was really friendly and we welcomed him to NYC since this is his first show here but it definitely won't be his last. He is hysterical in his character. Colin Hanlon was the real reason I went to the show since I saw him in The Last Five Years and was instantly astounded by his singing voice and performance. Last night he was a pleasure to watch and, even though he is getting over a cold, he made it work. He will, no doubt, continue to grow as an actor and, one day, star in a broadway musical, I'm sure of it. He is one to watch. I hope he feels better soon and I give him a lot of credit for performing when not feeling well because "The show must go on". I will be returning to see it again after it opens and I'm looking forward to it. Don't miss this show!

Most of the actors weren't hanging out in the lobby afterwards because they had another show very soon after to get ready for, but on the other nights, I think they do come out.
I saw Colin Hanlon in The Last Five Years too, and in tick, tick...Boom! before that. His performance in TTB was incredible. Probably one of my favorite, most meaningful theatre experiences. That's partly just because of the material, but definately partly because of him as well. I was so excited to see him in this and he did a wonderful job! Definately someone to watch.

Posted: 1/31/06 at 12:30amI think it's perfect for Broadway. The music is just wonderful. The kind that stays with you and you can't get it out of you head. I saw it the first night of previews and it was amazing!!!! The actors are refreshing and funny and so talented. The story is one that everyone can relate to.....LOVE. I will definitely see it again and would recommend it to everyone.

I went on Sunday night. Colin Hanlon was magnificent.
What a voice. Additionally, I loved the chemistry between Stephanie and David. The cute dance number Stephanie does is adorable.
