And I loved it! I just wanted to see what all the hype is about, especially since it beat WICKED. I went last night and sat in the balcony. I laughed during the entire show! I see now why people love the show so much. I do think, however, that it cannot be compared to WICKED bc the shows are so different in style and material. Did I mention that I loved the show?
After the show, I went to the stage door to try to see JT and S D'A. Unfortunately some random man had a group of kids with him and they ended up talking to JT and SDA for a really long time. So, I just walked up behind the group and waited (there were soooo many ppl waiting for autographs). The first to break away was JT. He was so polite. He signed my Playbill and thanked me for waiting. We talked about the show for a while, and then he commented on my accent. "Where are you from? You are NOT from New York." I told him that I live in GA, but I work in the city for weeks at a time.
Next, SDA broke free. I had just finished talking to JT, and I thought that I would miss her. She actually walked over to me and said, "Thanks for being so patient. I wasn't going to forget you." Wow. She signed my Playbill and we talked for awhile. She, too, commented on my accent. (It's really not that bad, but maybe overpronounced bc I was a little nervous). I told her that I had never thought to see the show until it beat WICKED, then I had to see what it was all about. She really laughed at this, and said that a lot of ppl have said that during the last week! She and I talked as we walked to the end of the stage door alley.
I just wanted to let everyone know that this WICKED die-hard loved AQ, and I already have tix to see it again.

I can't quite decide which song is my fav yet...
One question, though. Why aren't the songs listed in the Playbill?

Would you have laughed as hard at Everyone's a Little Bit Racist or The Internet is for Porn if you knew the titles beforehand? Probably Not. I think that's why.

I'm glad that you liked Q, its such a great show!
Yeah, they don't put the song titles in there just for the reason that they don't really want people to see them before they hear them. Plus some people wouldn't like the songs before they even heard them.

Posted: 6/16/04 at 6:20pmGood point about the songs not being in the Playbill. I prob would not have laughed until I drooled if I knew b4 hand :)

Posted: 6/16/04 at 7:18pmGlad you liked it! I'm seeing it in 2 weeks with my parents (yes, they're that cool and know how raunchy it is). It sounds like D'abruzzo and Tartaglia are adorable offstage as well as on!

I respect a performer so much more when I know that they are nice and considerate people. That also counts for talent, I think.
Just remember everyone...when you make it big on Broadway...do not ignore your fans. Always leave time in your schedule for them afterwards (not ALL of the time). If you were the aspiring actors waiting, you would want them to stop...just like you do now. It really puts a smile on faces.

Posted: 6/16/04 at 9:15pmI saw AVENUE Q twice before I saw WICKED, and I was sure it was going to win the TONY. Then I saw WICKED, which I now think got robbed. We can be obsessed with one show and still love others. URINETOWN being another major one of mine (that I saw this year).

Posted: 6/16/04 at 9:16pmGlad you liked it! It's such a fantastic show, and the cast recording is amazing as well. Those songs always make me smile- it's such a fun show.

Posted: 6/16/04 at 9:19pmBtw, just for clarification, once you see the show, you need the CD, it is amazing. Just see the show first, you'll know why I say that.

Posted: 6/16/04 at 9:25pmOne other thing, why would you have to break down to see a show? You can't like more than one show on Broadway? I'd never say that WICKED is definitely the best on Broadway b/c I haven't seen all the other shows: it's the best I've seen, and I think it might be the best on Bway, but I can't know that.

Posted: 6/16/04 at 9:48pmGood point, musicpos2. I just never thought about seeing AQ (I am ashamed to say). I will be back working in the city in 2 weeks, and I am seeing it again, not WICKED!
