I'm bored and have a problem

Just thought I would share this little story (hey, it's 1:15am and I can't sleep...plus, nothing wrong with working my way up the acting ladder to Broadway Legend).
Anyway, I have found that I am completely obsessed with this forum...in particular, this message board. The only time I am not here is when I am sleeping, at work, at a show or in the shower...and using the bathroom facilites, but I assumed everyone knew that. It's very sad really. I would say I would join a support group, but that would end up being you people, and rather than fixing our Broadwayworld.com obsession problem, we would start discussing Broadway......again. LOL
I mean, it's friggin 1:20 in the morning now, and I know that I will wake up and come back here. I won't go pay my bills that I'm supposed to pay. I won't do chores around the house that need to be done. Thank God the air conditioner is in the same room as the computer or I would be in trouble this summer. As it is, I'm about to have a heart attack because the button that turns my hard drive on is on the verge of breaking, and my computer almost didn't go on this evening.
I guess admitting the problem is a start.
LOL thanks for reading this very pointless post.
GRRRR, it's raining, and I just had my car washed and hot waxed yesterday!

Posted: 6/12/03 at 1:45amI was that way today... I wasn't feeling well this morning, and all my friends were doing things. It was all hot and muggy outside and I had NO reason to go out (I HATE NYC in the heat), so I basically sat in my air conditioned apartment all day, going back and forth from this board to other Broadway sites, in between some random showtune listening, a little Sex and the City watching, and cleaning up a bit. I feel your pain. It's addicting.

I guess that's true. I used to be this way with other message boards, and I still visit them...it's just not something I HAVE TO DO everyday now. Thanks, I feel better. lol
Hey Daisy, at least the rain is cooling things down a bit. I have my window open right now & it's very nice (even though my car will look like crap tomorrow).

Look on the bright side, being on the Message Board here is much more cost efficient than other diversions such as having an EBay fixation. This is fun and not costly!
I find that having Rex around helps pull me away from the computer at regular intervals. He doesn't like to be ignored. There's an idea get a dog! Just kidding!!

I have 2 dogs, they come over to visit me once in a while, but then they go back to sleep. Lazy animals! LOL and I have a big backyard, so I don't have to walk them all the time (just for occasional fun and exercise).
I went through the EBay faze. Man! When I think of how many Broadway shows I could have seen with that money (or paid bills lol), I get chest pains. Thank God I got over it.

It's not really a problem. It's the same thing as talking on the phone with friends. Just in a new form. Technology is a wonderful thing. I used to be just like you with Sondheim.com but see the difference is, people here love you and don't have sticks up their asses. THEY DO! LOL. Thats why Im glad I found this board and all these open minded charming ppl including yourself and will continue to stay. Thanks Farin.

GAHHHH Don't. Mention. Ebay.!!! That's one sick sick obsession right there! I have had to force myself to stay faaaaaaar away.
As for this board, yes, I too am on it unhealthy amounts. It moved very quickly at times so topics really don't just, SIT. It makes for an ever lovely time killer at work... though, what's my excuse when I get home?

Posted: 6/12/03 at 10:52amTheLast5Yrs, it's great dramatic performances like that which will bring you closer and closer to Broadway Legend (or a least leading actor). BRAVO, take a bow. :)

Ebay can be quite scary. I've bid on (and won) exactly one item, and that's all I plan to do. What that item is, I won't tell. :)

I learned from a friend of mine. He has a serious bobble-head addiction (go figure) and can't stay off Ebay. He's spent thousands of dollars there and completely obsesses about being outbid. I've spent $22.50. :) But I can see how one could be caught up in it -- I felt that way about my one auction. So it's WAY too dangerous for me to play there. Plus, I'd rather spend my extra $ on theatre tickets. :)

#21E-Bay maddness!
Posted: 6/12/03 at 7:05pm
You know you’re an E-bay addict when you’ve hit 75 buys and you know in your heart you’ve bought more than that but not everyone leaves feedback!
I have my own bidding system so I normally get what I want at a price that I can live with. From computer programs to snoods to CD/DVD’s, I just can’t stay away all together. It’s just a matter of knowing what you want, how much your willing pay for it and how many times have you seen the exact same item come up for sale. If it’s a one of kind, well that’s a bit hard if it’s something you really want but if it’s a computer program and you’ve gone past your highest price then, eh, wait for it to come again. And be very careful to read the dag gone shipping info–that can add a ton to the final price.
A good example is that I wanted a fake book that was going for about $10.00 (considering it is a $35.00 book that sounds good) but the postage was $17.00!!!!!! Now how it was going to cost that much to send a book is beyond me. I found it on Half.com for a total cost of around $19.00 which I found acceptable.
As for the boards, Broadway.com was the first board I ever posted on so it will always be “home” as long as it’s there. And I found there’s an odd side effect of getting cable vs dial up. Since it takes so little time to sign on and for the pages to come up–just click and go as opposed to the long wait for dial up just to sign on, not to mention it taking forever for each and every page to load, I find I can hop around the net in less than half the time. I’ve discovered so many boards on so many different subjects that interest me that it is very hard to keep up with them all. I find I’m posting less (mainly because I don’t have the time to go back and check to see if anyone answered me) and reading more.
I do, however, find that I pop back between here and BW.com several times an evening just to look in and see how everyone is doing even if I don’t post.

Posted: 6/13/03 at 1:21amLOL I have about 5 fourms that I visit daily (or at least whenever I'm on the computer), this one just happens to be at the top of the list.

Oh boy, as for ebay- I got into this knitting thing, and bought over $600 worth of interesting yarns, most of which is still hanging around, probably never to be used! Fortunately, I broke the habit. I was a seller for a while, too, and did pretty well!
As for message boards-they also became somewhat of a problem for me a while back. I became so addicted to a couple of them that I neglected everything else I had to do and sat in front of the computer most of the day. Broke that habit too! Now I think I have a healthy balance going here~ of course, getting a job would ultimately be the most prudent thing I could do, but I think I'll wait until the unemployment runs out, lol!
