If you had to pick...

Posted: 12/29/04 at 12:30amOne of these shows to see (for me) which one would it be? My choices are Little Women and La Cage aux Folles. I know Little Women is still in previews, but I'm gonna be in the city from January 5th-9th. Thank you.

Can you see both? Look for codes.
I loved LA CAGE. I am seeing Little Women at the end of Jan.
Have fun.

Posted: 12/29/04 at 12:39amMy friends think its wrong that I go at all, because they don't want to go and think its uncool that we're not going to the show together. They really can't afford even with codes and don't want to go. I had plans to see both but I'm basically limited to to one at the moment. I know, I know Corine its tough love, or lub.

Definitely 100% LITTLE WOMEN.
I thought LA CAGE was garbage, but not everyone things that. If you're easily amused, you might like it.

Munk-
Garbage? It is hardly garbage. The music, the new dance numbers and the costumes are gorgeous. I was very entertained.
My advice honey. See if you can get student tickets, if you can't afford full price. If they don't have student rush then go to the times square visitor center and get twofers. They will give you two tickets for the price of one. If you do that maybe you can see both.
Also check tkts in Times Square.

Corine, darling:
And this isn't in a bitchy manner because I enjoy you. I said I THOUGHT it was garbage, not IT IS garbage. I like the show - I think it's very well written. I should have been more specific - I think it's a terrible, messy, awfully directed PRODUCTION of a fabulous show. I think the Choreography is fantastic, and the costumes are dazzling but other than that, the cast makes the production fall flat.

Ok Munk honey,
I loved it. Especially the CAGELLE'S. I loved Andy Pernick. The Cagelle in the cage. It was worth seeing the show for him alone.
But I adored all the dancers, the costumes, the book, the music.
William Ivey LONG!
And Harvey wrote it. What more do you need?
I also loved Harvey's message.
What can i say. I love Harvey.
(I was jealous of the Cagelle's clothing. I would die to have William Ivey Long make me clothing, his clothing always blows me away)

Posted: 12/29/04 at 1:09amYour right - there IS a lot to enjoy at LA CAGE - mainly Les Cagelles - they're fantastic. Whenever they're not on stage, I was bored out of my mind. I honestly thought Gary Beach was horrendous, and that ruined it for me.

Posted: 12/29/04 at 1:10amI've heard some great things about La Cage (someone in the show I am in right now just saw it this past weekend and raved about it), but I have not yet seen it. I would say Little Women- just to see Sutton. She really is a force on stage, and this is not a performance of hers that you would want to miss.

I love Sutton. I saw one number from the show and she blew me away. Also check with your school some schools have something called high five tickets. I am not sure if that still exists but check.
I hope you have a wonderful time in NYC.

Posted: 12/29/04 at 1:21amThanks, I'm gonna just go into the trip with just an open mind and limit on my money. Plus, find out which show I'll go to. I'm on vacation from school, and I'm down here in Florida, so I have a feeling the student thing doesn't exsist. I'll try to look into it though. Should I just judge by seats, cause I can get nice seats, row B seat 2 on the aisle, for $65 at Little Women. The race is close, more convincing please. Thanks cheeries.

I've seen both. Tough call, choosing between Les Cagelles and Sutton.
La Cage isn't offering rush, but I think the last row of the mezz is $25. The view up there was fine for me, and great for the dance numbers.
I vote for La Cage, but I enjoyed both. Ha, I'm no help!

January is a terrible month for theater. You should really see if they have student tickets at Little Women and La Cage.
Student tickets are usually 20-25 a ticket. If you paid that for both shows it would still be less and you could see both.

Type_A_Tiff: There's nothing hard about her. Broadway_star_tomorrow: Yeah. Her arteries.

Posted: 12/29/04 at 1:39amBoth are good choices. Do you like Sutton Foster, and do you want to go into the theater seeing a heartwarming story? If so, check out Little Women. If you'd rather be entertained with a flashy spectacle, go see La Cage Aux Folles.
