I'm assuming it is because it lists all the nostalgic fads of the eras like
"Hemlines are shorter, a beer costs a quarter"
"A twist or a waltz, it's all the same schmaltz"
"Fads keep a-fading, Castro's invading"
"Hairdos are higher"
"Rare vintage ripple"
"Glenn Miller had class, that Chubby Checker's a gas"
"Broken-down Chevy"
"Hindenburg disaster"
Also because it has an encore/reprise at the end, because some versions of "I've Got a Little List" from the Mikado are a little longer than supposed to be, and "Brush Up Your Shakespeare" and "Everybody Ought to Have A Maid" and "You Can't Get A Man with a Gun" and "The Lady Is a Tramp" have a lot of things that they need to put on their lists.
I would say it was a "list song," yes.
But the king of "list songs" IMO was Cole Porter.
Check out "You're the Top" and many others.
