Posted: 6/9/05 at 12:30pmI would say that it is the FUNNIEST Neil Simon play ever written! It was associated with wonderful people like Walter Matthau, Art Carney, Jack Lemmon, Carole Shelley, Monica Evans, (they played the Pigeon sisters in all three versions: the play, the movie, and the television show, and the former just completed her role as Madame Morrible in Wicked) Jack Klugman and Tony Randall until Simon wrote the gender-bending version. But now that Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick, Brad Garret, and Rob Bartlett are going to be in this incarnation, its comedic glory will probably be restored!

It's also massively popular, which is why I'm betting we will see poster after poster line up to bash it and dismiss it as Garbage, crap or tripe.
Enjoy the show- I wish I could go!

Wanna Be A Foster,
Joe wasn't being bitter.
And didn't you post on another thread that this is not the place for personal attacks? Hello!

Let me be the first to make JoeKv99's prediction come true:
WILL THE ODD COUPLE PLEASE BE GIVEN A REST. IT'S BEEN BEATEN INTO THE GROUND.
Isn't everybody sick and tired of Felix and Oscar yet? The thought of Nathan and Matthew mugging their way threw this thing is nauseating to me. I thought the female version was the last nail in the coffin, but then Simon had to write a pathetic film sequel for Lemmon and Matthau.
Let it go, Neil. It's dead!!!

Nathan & Matthew could appear in ABIE'S IRISH ROSE and it would sell out just as fast.
(Hmmmmm...not a bad idea...)

With $7 million in sales the first very day (which might be a record for a Broadway play), several million since (with tens of millions to come), and an already announced eight week extension, I'm not sure how "Dead" the play is or why on earth "Neil" (is he a friend of yours?) should "let it go."
Just because you (or I, for that matter) have little desire to see it, doesn't mean that there aren't obviously A LOT of people out there dying to see this show and willing to pay top dollar for the honor (I can only imagine what premium seats will be going for -- $300? $400? More?). I, for one, won't begrudge Mr. Simon for wanting to add a few more million dollars to his already quite considerable coffers, even though I personally won't be one of the contributers.

Thirty-four pairs are on Ebay already.
One pair has a "buy it now" option at a price of $999.99.
One has the option at $1,500.00.

Unbelievable
People will pay exorbitant prices for this but will not donate a dime to charity or give a homeless person on the street some change.
What the hell is the obsession with Lane & Broderick? They are talented actors but to pay thru the nose to see them do roles immortalized by Lemmon & Matthau escapes me
People think of them as gods . I do not understand it but to each his own. Will spend my theater dollars elsewhere on something I have not seen. I will not mortgage my life to see them. They could read the phone book & people would go ga ga

Is this the art work for the new production? The names seem to be ill placed. (I got it from an ebay auction)
