Jen Cody in Wicked

Posted: 8/3/04 at 10:34amThis is my first post so I thought I would use it to pass on some news from Mrs. Cody herself. Jen was in town last week doing Oklahoma! (amazingly hysterical as Ado Annie).....I talked to her about the rumors of her being attached to the national tour of Wicked in the role of Glinda. She thought it was funny. She laughed saying, "You know...people started saying that just because I attended the show a few weeks ago!" She, as of now, does not have any plans to be in Wicked. She is a very sweet person and was extremely kind. Personally, I would love to see her in Wicked. I think she would be great.

Posted: 8/3/04 at 11:34amYou can't guage Glinda by Cheno.... she took liberties and sang stuff that was not in the score for the show. Jenn Thompson is probably a MUCH better gauge of the WRITTEN score.

Posted: 8/3/04 at 11:48amI know Cheno took liberties, but I think if Jen Cody had a strong voice, she would be getting leads instead of staying in the ensemble of shows

Posted: 8/3/04 at 11:54amYou don't get principal roles because you are more talented.. that isn't how it works. Hell, most of the ensemble folsk I run into can run rings around many of the principal players.... understudying trequires a LOT more.

Posted: 8/3/04 at 12:58pmThe only show I've seen Jen in was the revival of "Grease" as Cha-Cha. She was hysterical and it's the reason why I have never forgotten her. It isn't the size of the role, but what one does with it. Hope to see her on Broadway soon.

And you know, I could definitely see this being absolutley hysterical. She might make a better munchkin, though... I mean, *I* am taller than her. I'm not taller than many people. I'm not sure her voice is strong enough, but I guess you never know.

Posted: 8/3/04 at 1:07pmI just saw Jen Cody in OKLAHOMA this last week as well. Although she doesn't sing the big ballade songs as Ado Annie, her singing was very strong and her comedic timing pretty much stole the show. I wish I could have seen her as Sally in the Snoopy benefit. I'll bet she was perfect for that role.
