So, yesterday me, my mom, and my sister ventured into NYC to go try for rush tickets for Jersey Boys, and all I have to say is that we made it there at the right time because when we got there, there was about 7 people on line and it was two groups, there was this friend of mine that I met yesterday and her son who waited on line since 1am and bought tickets for her, her daughter, and a friend of her daughter and this other group of guys who got 6 tickets.
Jersey Boys had 12 rush and 10 SRO and me, my mom, and my sister got the last three tickets. We got there at about 6:56am and that was the time all the rush tickets were gone. We were worried and nervous cause we didn't know if someone was going to walk up and be like "I'm with them" or something like that and we didn't relax until 12pm when we got the tickets. What was even greater is the fact that there was no scalpers on the line yesterday. Everyone who was on that line went to see the show.
It was funny too cause when we got online for the tickets, a couple of people got on line behind us and I turned and said "You know that the tickets are gone after us?" This one girl behind my sister was all like, "Well, you know just incase something happens" Nothing like that happened, my sister got the last seat. Went to lunch at Olive Garden and then checked out M&M World where my sister bought something for John.
So, it's about 2:21 or so, and we head back to the theatre. We get there, the line's huge and filled with old people. We were heading for the back of the line, and as we're doing this, I see this guy coming in our direction. As he came closer, I realized who it was, it was Daniel Reichard. He said "Hey Enjoy the show", and we said hey back.
There was two understudies on that day: Dominic Nolfi was on as Tommy Devito and Heather Ferguson was filling in for Erica Piccininni(she plays Lorraine and others). The show starts and "Ces Soirees-La" is playing and I noticed Matthew Scott comes out and is doing a role that usually is done by Michael Longoria. So, I'm thinking "Oh No, John's probably called out at the last minute..."
Fast forward to the Frankie's entrance, John comes out, so I'm like "Okay John's in, but wait does this mean Michael's out? Oh man, not Matthew Scott as Joe Pesci again." Fast forward again to Pesci's entrance, it's Michael. So I was like "They switiched up Michael's roles?" They did, he only has three roles and they're the ones where he speaks and Matthew Scott does the other roles. Michael know does tambourine at the end during "Who Loves You" instead of guitar.
Anywho, the show was great as usual. This was my second time seeing Dominic as Tommy, and I think he was a great stand in/understudy for Christian. I really liked him as Tommy, and hope maybe he'll get to be Tommy when Christian decides to leave after his current contract expires. John, Daniel, Bobby, Michael, and everyone else were great as well. John was sounding great, he got a standing ovation at the end of "Can't Take My Eyes Off You". I was getting ready to try to get more people up by signaling to them, "Come on get up."
Stage door afterwards was great, not as big as usual, but it was great. Michael was first one out. Dominic came out next, he signed and I got a photo with him. My sister said to him, "You know you look like Alec Baldwin." He just looked at her puzzled and said "Alec Baldwin? I never heard that." Bobby and Daniel came out next, my sister told Daniel about how a friend of hers took a photo of the two of them out of her locker and nominated them for her unit's cutest couple and they won, to which he high fived and hugged her. She also gave Bobby a card for him and his wife congratulating them on the baby.
John was last out, signed and talked with everyone. I thanked him for contributing to this project I had and for the christmas card. My sister gives John this bag of green M&Ms and says "I heard you wanna try to eat more greens and someone said you like chocolate, so hear." He loved it.
I'll be posting photos soon on here, facebook, and myspace.

"Dominic Nolfi was on as Tommy Devito"
i LOVE dom!
i did a broadway classroom back in march with him and the current resident director of jersey boys, and we presented monologues for them and they gave feedback, and even did a j-boys scene for us! what a great experience! and we talked with him for a while, he was such a sweetie. then when i finally saw the show in september the day of the BC/EFA flea market, we saw him there and he remembered us as the "monologue kids" ahahah. then we're like, we're seeing the show today! are yo gonna be there? he was like, yes i am! i'll come out to see you guys! and at the stage door he did and only signed our playbills and things because we knew him! how cool! i hope he does really well, he is such an incredible guy!

Hey Norrell 4077,
Love your story!
So glad your stage door
experience with "The Boys"
was a good one for you.
They have got to be the nicest guys
on Broadway. They always take the
time out to meet the fans after the
show and it is never rushed.
No matter how tired they might be,
You have to love them for it
You know I kept wondering who would
take Christians place when he is off
now I know. Wow Domenick! Good for
him!

Well actually Christian has four understudies-John Leone, Matthew Scott, Dominic Nolfi, and Donnie Kehr. I know that John went on the first of half of the week and then Dominic finished up with the weekend.
I really liked Dominic as Tommy, when I read on Christian's blog that he was on vacation, I was hoping to see Dominic again. It was the second time I saw him as Tommy. I saw him back in August, when I believe it was his first week going on as Tommy. The guys sitting next to me(a couple of the guys had seen Jersey Boys before and they brought their friends with them) and they were talking about the show and one brought up Dominic and Tommy and one of them said something about him being an understudy and the guy said "He's an understudy. That's not the original guy." They really liked him and the show.
Like I posted before, Michael Longoria now only does a few roles, Joe Pesci and the studio engineer or whatever you want to call the guy working the both with Crewe.

Posted: 1/9/07 at 2:32pmMichael is no longer performing in the opening because he'll soon no longer be under a chorus contract. Since he's officially the Frankie cover for matinees now, they are drawing up a new contract that will take affect in the future.

Posted: 1/9/07 at 3:08pmThanks for the wrap-up. Awesome. I saw the show once but did not stage door it afterwards. Wish I did. They all seem like such nice guys. When did J. Robert's wife have the baby and what did she have?

Posted: 1/9/07 at 7:14pmAre they bumping up Matt to a chorus member then, PJ? Or are they hiring someone else for the Pesci roles and letting Michael be the alternate?

Posted: 1/9/07 at 8:11pmI was there too! It was the first time I've seen it without Christian but Dominic was so great! I really liked the kicking thing he did for a couple of the songs. Heather was really great too!

Great review.
Adore JERSEY BOYS.
I saw Matthew as Pesci and saw Micheal as Pesci.
Micheal is king of PESCI.
