Kinky Boots Review - March 10, 2015

So tonight I finally caught Kinky Boots after 2 years of wanting to see it and missing out on each trip I have had! I have nothing to compare the show currently or the current cast to, but I was absolutely blown away tonight!

Kyle Taylor Parker is beyond amazing as Lola. He makes Lola so REAL, and had me in tears at the end. John Jeffrey Martin was on as Charlie Price and was great as well. But my absolute favorite of the night was Jeanna De Waal as Lauren. Absolutely hilarious. I've listened to the cast album many times, and never guessed "History of Wrong Guys" would be such a showstopper! Showstoppers were the theme throughout the evening. "Sex Is In The Heel" and "Hold Me In Your Heart" received particularly long applause. Some favorite ensemble standouts were Jake Odmark as Harry and Joey Taranto, who brings done the house during "In This Corner". Though he stood out, all the angels were incredible.

This was one of the best audiences I have had in years. Lots of applause and great energy. Like I said, I haven't seen the show before, but 2 years into it's run, it felt new and fresh as if it just opened to me. The cast looks like they are having a giant party onstage. Kinky Boots is in absolutely amazing shape!!

I'm glad to know it's in such good shape! I haven't seen it since I saw the OBC, but it's one of my very favorite musicals!

I want to see Kyle before Billy gets back...glad he is getting such positive reviews.

Couldn't agree with this review more! I also finally saw the show this past Saturday, and I loved it! The only issue I had was a personal one, as I hadn't gotten much sleep the night before after my long trip from Paper Mill after Hunchback, so I unfortunately napped for two seconds during one of the ballads.

Kyle is incredible. Seriously, see him before Bill returns!
