You REALLY don't like doing any of your own research do you?
Why don't you just make a thread for pics of all Broadway theatres, instead of making all these seperate threads.

go to www.ibdb.com
search for the theatre name
click on the name in blue

People continue to surprise me with their stupidity.

I was going to say that that picture does not look like the Lunt.
As it stands now, the Lunt does not have that 3rd level, correct? It just has an extended mezz?

Posted: 7/12/06 at 2:39pmYeah, they redid the theatre in 1957, removing the boxes and the second balcony. I think the style they used was "late 50s kitsch," although the theatre got a paint job a few years ago, and looks a lot better than it did when it was powder blue, with paintings of cherubs flying all over the place, or when it was painted electric blue for The Best Little Whorehouse Goes Public.

Then they painted EVERYTHING inside blue for TITANIC. EVERYTHING.
It was horrible.

Posted: 7/12/06 at 2:43pmThe Lunt-Fontanne was beautiful when I saw the Lunts open the remodeled, re-named theatre with The Visit. Having seen that is the reason I can't imagine it as a good musical....even though I've heard the complete Kander and Ebb show.

Posted: 7/12/06 at 4:08pmThe Lunt is no longer all blue and drippy. It got a facelift of sorts (and some roof repair) when Beauty and the Beast moved there. The seats and carpet are still blue, but the walls are tan with faux mirrors and very nice chandeliers. The best parts of the place are the downstairs lobby because of all the historical photos of Lunt and Fontanne, and the upstairs lobby because of the murals of audience members.
