Legally Blonde Tour - Baltimore - Notes

Saw the show today... Here are my comments on the show.

First of all, a very entertaining show.

The opening scene definitely misses something without the house, stairs, interior of the house. It just looked like they were running around in circles.

Rhiannon (sp?) - Thought she was extremely annoying on the MTV show. She surprised me - she was very good.

The guy who played Warner - something's missing. He doesn't have that "I'm the best guy anywhere" quality. Seemed just pretty normal.

Becky (Elle) - Excellent. I liked her better than when I saw it in NYC with LBB.

Natalie (Paulette) - I felt like during Ireland she was reserved. But starting with the Reprise, she was definitely a great addition.

Natalie's Top during Bend & Snap - She must be taped in. I swore there was going to be some "Janet Jackson" surprise at some point as she was bending and snapping. She really was EXCELLENT.

Rap Guy/Dewey/UPS Guy - Excellent. A friend actually commented to me about Andy Karl's stomach thing he did during the Dewey scene. Ven (who played Dewey in Baltimore) didn't do this... namely because there is not an inch of fat on his body. The entrance music is still hysterical.

Emmett - DB Bonds was great. I liked him better than Borle in NYC. I did find it funny that in the Dept. Store scene they go to great lengths to cover him up in the little booth, putting suits around the booth....and then put a huge mirror behind him, allowing us to see that he was in white boxer briefs.

Colleen (Brooke) - This girl is TINY! But what a great voice - she was excellent... and looked great too.

Legally Blonde scene - I loved the way they changed this. They should have done this in NYC --> Having Emmett and Elle sing to each other throughout the song just makes sense and makes you feel closer to both of them. Definitely a high light

Vivienne - This girl can sing. She was great.

Hmmm....Think that's all I can remember off the top of my head... Let me know if any of you have questions....

Whoooo love to hear good things about Coleen! Funny you call her tiny though, I believe she's around 5'9! LOL Unless you mean she is really skinny - which is true! Regardless, thanks for posting. Hope I get a chance to see it here in Philly!

Apparently, they are no longer separated by a door during the second verse, and sing it directly to each other.

Did they change Emmett's lyric about opening the door? I assume they must have. What was the new line?

If Coleen is tiny the rest of the cast must be giants. She's like 5'8". She was one of the taller Elphaba's if I remember correctly.

I saw the tour in Providence recently and noticed the same thing about the Emmett/changing scene. You could clearly see his undies, which was fine with me as D.B. Bonds is a hunk. :)

Does really anyone read what anyone else reads on these boards? Regardless, Coleen is very tall, for the most part, for a stage actress. All of the Lucy's from Jekyll & HYDE were abnormally" tall...Linda Eder is shy of 6'0 and Luba Mason is 5'10 as well (One of the reasons why Emily Skinner sang backstage a few times during previews - the costumes didn't fit her right). I always imagined Brook to be taller than Elle anyway...sorry to compare, but that's how it is in the movie too!

And I like what it sounds like they did with the Legally Blonde scene!

adamgreer- The new line in Legally Blonde was "I should have told you before. Am I too late? Can I just say, how much I want you to stay...." The whole song now takes place in the courtroom.

Was the production selling any souvenirs? If so, what were the items and some of their prices if you remember?

as of right now (i could be wrong) they are selling the same merchandise as the show - minus some things (no poster, designer bag, etc).

glad you liked the show :) i totally agree with all your comments, i looooved when they were singing together i thought it was so clever it showed their relationship more if that makes sense.

coleen is brilliant & gorgeous in real life!!!

i went in providence but i cant wait to go again in boston/hartford!

You can actually see Emmett's underwear on Broadway too, depending on where you sit. As Jerry said to me when I saw it, "That's what you pay all this money for." lol.

Well I like Coleen...lol. I absolutely love the Phillies though. I hope they can win these next 2 since I have off these 2 days...Hahaha.
