Well if your going to pay full price then just get them now. The sooner you buy them, the better seats you'll get. If you don't want to buy them in advance, you can always wait on the cancelation line if it is sold out.

im getting my LES MIS tickets today for end of December
we found like row J tickets, so i think you should be fine for January or February
