Any hints as to what theatre it will be at? I wouldn't like the idea of it being at the Belasco or Minskoff because 2 major vampire flops happened there

I hreard that the Palace would be its home.
I do not think it would work very well in the Broadhurst.
Just to be clear Dance of the Vampires wasn't technically a flop, lol....Just thought I'd point that out. DOTV was a critical flop, but in it's short-lived run, it was finacially stable, and an audience success (People loved it). The only reason that the show closed was because they weren't sure whether or not it would be able to survive Broadway's dead months known as January and February, that's why it closed; that's also why most shows that close during that time period end up tanking.
.....As for the LESTAT, sorry for the tangent, I believe that the Palace Theater has been hinted, but I'm not sure whther or not it is official?!? The Palace would probably be a nice theater for the show....A SHOW WHICH I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT, lol!

Financially stable? Are you for real?
Seriously, I know it sounds wierd, but if they could've skipped January and February, Boyett/USA Ostar would've kept the show running. I do have to agree that in my opinion it wasn't doing fabulously well in terms of ticket sales, but for the producers, I guess they were fine with it.....Although I'm not sure how entirely. I read this in an article from the UK; discussing the term "Flop". Dunno, lol.....It was pretty successful with audiences though. The show did provide a fun evening.
.....I am thoroughly looking forward to Lestat though, and wish the show all the best!
See Ya!

DOTV was not financially stable, nor was it ever a hit. The only people who loved it were the Michael Crawford-ites. Talk about revisionist history...
And it lost a LOT of money. That makes it a flop.
As for the purpose of the thread....I'm almost certain I read here on this message board that it was going into the Palace.

A 'flop' by definition is a show that does not make its investment back by the time it closes. Therefore, almost everything is a flop. The most recent Gypsy revival was, as popular as it was amongst theatergoers. 'Flop' is also used to define shows that critics and audiences hate. Brooklyn, Dracula, Urban Cowboy, Dance of the Vampires, and Good Vibrations were all flops.

all I know is that it's playing at the Curran Theatre in San Francisco.

thank you phantom, and people need to remember that Tanz was a critical success in both Austria and Germany, and is still, I believe playing in Stuttgart.
How can it be announced to be in The Palace if it hasnt been announced that ASU is closing yet?
True.....The production in Stuttgart, however, closed, and it is now open in Hamburg! It's really a different show, quite amazing actually if you ever get the chance to see it.
AND NOW BACK TO THE TOPIC:
.....I think we have now gathered that Lestat will most likely be going into the Palace.
Whew!

No, its not official that it's going into the Palace. Or, its not announced. Its speculated that that is true, but it hasn't been formally announced yet (I don't belive, anyway)
No, it hasn't been formally announced, but people do love to post their inside info and not back it up.

The only reason why Dance of the Vampires failed was because they screwed it up and made it into a piece of crap
Hahaha.....Too true about DOTV. In terms of LESTAT going into the Palace, I do believe that it's only a possibility...Yes/No; I don't think that anything has been officially announced?!?

Its official because ASU IS CLOSING they haven't announced it yet publicly. But it is common knowledge. Especially with 30-40% attendance in the last 2 weeks.
Phantom--I don't remember what the weekly attendance rates were like for DOTV, but when I saw the show, the theater was like, a third full. Not very "financially stable" to me.
