James Marsters will return to his roots and first love in the San Francisco production of the hit play "The Little Dog Laughed" fresh from its Broadway run. James will appear in the production in a limited engagement starting June 13, 2007 and running through September 9, 2007 (he will continue to appear at his previously announced convention appearances as well). The production will take place at the Post Street Theatre in the heart of San Francisco. Ticket details to follow shortly.
"The Little Dog Laughed" by Douglas Carter Beane is a witty, biting look at what could happen if one of Hollywood's hottest leading men decided to come out of the closet! James will play the leading male character of 'Mitchell'.
James is incredibly excited about the opportunity to return to the stage. Joining him will be Julie White who originally created the role of 'Diane' both off-Broadway and on Broadway. The production will be directed by Scott Ellis.
Of course it's after I leave!
I think he'd be a better Alex, though. If he was about 10/20 years younger.

I saw a clip of Julie White in LDL on the Voldermort site, and she was hilarious. Now I see what all the fuss is about.
Who the heck is this guy?
He was spike on Bufy The Vampire Slayer
It's a shame the show closed so early in it's run. I was gonna try to go up and see it

That YouTube clip showcases how much better Neil Huff was than the guy whose name suddenly escapes me.
Tom Everett Hot...err, Scott. Which is the reason why he was cast over Huff. He has the movie star looks, even if he performs on stage like a piece of cardboard.

Ha. Yeah, sad but true.
I wonder why Zoe Lister-Jones was fired (only to be rehired to close the show).
If anyone goes, please post reviews! I'd love the opportunity to see James on the stage.
The role of Mitchell was actually written for Tom Everett Scott, but he was unable to do the off-Broadway production because of his TV show. I thought he was leaps and bounds better than Huff, and watching that clip made me remember what a flat, unconvincing performance he gave.
I wholeheartedly recommend this play, solely on the strength of the incredible performance of Julie White! Go, you San Franciscans!

She is on Grace Under Fire! I never even put that together. I hope this play gets done locally cause I want to see the rest of it. It looks hilarious. What was the show curtain on B'way for LDL? Was the set different?
There was no curtain.
White's characterization of Diane is SO completely different from her Grace character - it took seeing many online pics of her for LDL publicity before I put it together (before I saw the play). And even then, not having seen many eps of Grace, I had to look it up.
Just saw James at a convention today and he mentioned it. Can't wait to see it this summer. BTW, he is so nice and really interesting to listen to.
