What is this show about? How long did it run? I'm really interested.

The show follows 20-something writer, Charlotte (Jennifer Laura Thompson), on her quest to find meaning in her life after quitting smoking. She joins the Y and starts swimming and running, she moves in with this crazy, drug-using, clothes-making, hippi woman (Lea Delaria) she attempts to help her friends with their problems: Marco (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and his abusive boyfriend, and Kathy (Marcy Harriell) and her breast cancer scare, all the while trying to leave the memory of her mentally abusive boyfriend Robert (Hugh Panaro) behind her.
Other cast members were Ken Marks (who played her boss/the bodega man), Eric Jordan Young (Kathy's hot boyfriend with whom Charlotte dates) and Celia Keenan-Bolger (Ann Frank).

The show played at Second Stage Theatre from February 13-March 9 2003 during the whole musician strike on Broadway, and was written by Michael John LaChiusa with direction and choreography by Graciela Danielle. I saw the show twice, and both times I thought that Jen and the rest of the cast were absolutely outstanding in acting and singing, however the music wasn't very enthralling. The production had a lot of flaws and most of them were found within the play's book and musical numbers. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience b/c of the talented cast.

Not that i've seen the show, btu I am terribly upset that they never recorded this.

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

Me too! All LaChiusa scores need to be recorded.

Ugh. I really wanted to see this. If only I had known about theatre earlier!

This is my signature.

I begged my mother to take me to see it, b/c this was back in the days of my mother having to accompany me into the city, and we got snowed in, so I got to see it the following night.

I would love to hear LaChuisa's "First Lady Suite"
