So, I am going to LA the first week of July, however, not much theatre seems to be going on that week. I know the tour of War Horse closes on the 1st, but I have tickets for that in another city. La Cage comes to the Pantages on the 10th, but I have already seen it (plus I will be leaving before the 10th). I have tried looking into smaller theatre companies in the region, but am not having much luck. Can anyone recommend good places to see Theatre in LA, or what shows you know of are going to be playing in July?

Michael John LaChiusa has a new show at the Mark Taper Forum, Los Otros. It's gotten mixed reviews, and closes July 1. War Horse closes July 29. The Exorcist will be in previews at the Geffen.

Opening July 3 at the Geffen Playhouse in Westwood is THE EXORCIST, starring Richard Chamberlain and Brooke Shields, directed by John Doyle. http://geffenplayhouse.com/

Also, the NOHO Arts District has quite the thriving theater scene. You can check out listings and showtimes here: http://nohoartsdistrict.com/index.php/theatre-guide/new

Independent Shakespeare Company is back for their summer season of fres Shakespeare in the park (Griffith Park). Midsummer Night's Dream and The Winter's Tale will be running during the first week of July: http://www.iscla.org/

Might also consider checking out what's playing at The Largo at the Coronet. Largo is a wonderful, intimate theatre and nightclub in the Beverly Hills area. You can see legendary (and rather big) singer-songwriters and comedians play very intimate shows. A lot of comedians try out their material here as well. There's not much listed for the first wk of July, but shows get added all the time. You can see the likes of Aimee Mann, Fiona Apple, Patton Oswalt, Eddie Izzard, Jeff Garlin, Jon Brion, Sarah Silverman.
