Whenever I go to a Godspell site.. under the list of characters they always tell you Madonna has played Sonia before.

When did she play this role? and where?
There are pics of Madonna performing Turn Back for a H.S Talent Show, but they tell she indeed did play the role before.

So did she just play it in High School, or in a professional production?

Her voice is actually perfect for the role. I can so see the Madonna back in the day as Sonia.

I've never seen her name listed in a first class production of GODSPELL.

I'm sure it was just in a high school production or something. Shoshana Bean has played Asaka in Once on this Island, but that doesn't mean anything. It was in college. And she's white. Haha. I'd rather not see Madonna sing much of anything. Oh Evita...

Sad to say, there are hundreds of all-white high school, college and community theatre productions of OOTI every year. The script even contains re-writes to eliminate the racial aspect of the show.

I really hope they mean THE Madonna instead of the pop star. Come on! It would make sense!

"This is what I trained to do, and this is what I love about theater. What I love about being an actress is being able to really look into myself and understand another human being. And out my own self, to shape and form and fashion a real human being--and to present that in such a way that people see something of themselves or their own understanding in that human being." --Phylicia Rashad
