Peter is a well respected and honest critic. I can see how he feels this way. I was hopeful that WSS and Guys and Dolls would be wonderful...sadly neither are what you might call "up to snuff".
Honestly, I can't think of too many shows since Producers, Light in the Piazza, Hairspray and Drowsy Chaparone that I would recommend to my friends visiting New York. As another poster here says quite often... Sad. Terribly Sad.

PJ, I've not yet seen it, so I can't say. But, I have heard it's quite great.
I think Broadway is a risky place right now. They are stuck between "poor pockets for new shows" and "poor remakes of great ones", in my opinion. And in this economy, people are selective by force to limit their $$ ...make that $$$$ for shows.
