What is this song--- a friend of mine has it n she says its the song they replaced with Wizard and I... is that correct?
I dunno if they exactly replaced it...I know "You'll be making good" is the last line before Wizard and I.
I saw the show towards the middle/end of the run in San Francisco, and don't remember a song called "Makin' Good."
"Making Good" was replaced with "The Wizard and I".
MG wasn't in the SF run, I do believe it was in the workshops before SF.
I'm not a fan of WICKED, but I do know from the countless posts on this very topic that the song MAKING GOOD was the original song that Elphaba sang in place of THE WIZARD AND I. It was only heard in workshops as it was never performed in SF or on Broadway. although a portion of it still does remain prior to THE WIZARD AND I in the current libretto.

I was lucky enough to have Stephen Schwartz do a Q&A session at my school where he sang "Making good" and went through all of the changes that the song went through before it eventually became "The Wizard and I". Apparantly "Making good" was actually part of a train scene that was eventually cut due to a suggestion by Schwartz's son. He knew that he wanted the term "making good" included in the final version of the song, which is what we now see in "The Wizard and I".
