Memphis Quote Question
#1Memphis Quote Question
Posted: 2/5/10 at 7:20pmI was looking through my playbills and just seeing the show in the back and couldn't help to notice above Memphis it says this quote, "The Biggest Hit on Broadway in Years". Is this just a play on words since it is about rock n' roll music or are they actually considering this musical a hit when it is not, whatsoever especially in these years.

Posted: 2/5/10 at 7:26pmIt's a quote from the review of the reviewer who it is credited to (David Richardson at WOR Radio.) What part are you confused about?

Posted: 2/5/10 at 7:30pmThe Biggest Hit on Broadway in years. It is nowhere near the success of other shows.

It's not supposed to be a statement of how long the show has been open or box office receipts or anything, though. It's a quote from a review. So are you saying that a reviewer can't call something a "hit" and/or use the quantifier of "years" in a review?
Personally I'm more amused by the dueling Billy Elliot/Wicked ads, as each is claiming to be "The Best Musical of the Decade," since Billy was crowned such by Time, and Wicked by Entertainment Weekly.
