It seems like people like Poor Unfortunate Souls better than I want the good times back from the Little Mermaid? I mean, if you go to youtube there's far more videos of PUS than IWTGTB... And when the Ursula-playing actress goes on talkshows, like when Faith Prince was on the View - it's PUS?
Why is that? And which one do you like the best? I would pick IWTGTB any day? I know that PUS was in the movie and stuff, but IWTGTB is way better?

Because PUS is a much better acronym?
But honestly, because it's a known tune.

I'm warning you now that you're going to get ripped to shreds on this board.
However, I happen to enjoy MERMAID. So I won't. They use "Poor Unfortunate Souls" on talk show performances because it's recognizable to the audience. It's a well-known song from the well-known film. "I Want the Good Times Back" is not.

Poor Unfortunate Souls is the song that people identify with the character of Ursula.
Plus it's just a much better song than I Want The Good Times Back. And that's coming from someone who likes IWTGTB.

Why are you looking up videos of PUS? Eww.
(Really, there's gotta be a better way to abbreviate that... Like PUnS. Or PoorUS. Or P.U.! Souls! :) )

Posted: 7/29/09 at 5:14pmI love both songs, but PUS just has a better tune to it (though I love some of what Ursula says in IWTGTB, so evil!).

Yep, it's because it's more popular, as everyone else has said.
But, for future reference, please don't use that unsightly acronym - for either song.
Simply, once you type the title out once so people understand what you're talking about, use a word or phrase from the title which sums up its parts, like "Good Times" or "Souls".
So many people do that and I don't understand, sorry to take it out on you.

Posted: 7/29/09 at 10:49pm"Poor Unfortunate Souls" is amazing, however "I Want the Good Times Back" is easily my favorite tune from the show that wasn't in the movie. It's really great.

Forget about Poor Unfortunate Souls vs I Want the Good Times Back.

"Wasting Away" (Demo recording)

Oh yeah, Wasting Away was great. Why couldn't they have done all three? (I still prefer Good times, though)...
And to I am the one - I'm truly so, so sorry for the UNSIGHTLY abbreviations... I hope you'll be able to sleep at night...
And I know that I'll be ripped for liking Mermaid - but why? It was a good show? All fun and stuff? (although the set design was horrible...)

I'm not going to lie. I continue to check this thread just to see how many question marks and ellipses the OP is going to use.
...It's astonishing?
