The same banner ad for The Trip to Bountiful keeps popping up on Playbill.com for me. It has a picture of Cicely Tyson and the words LAST CHANCE TO SEE HER!
Am I the only one who thinks that's a little morbid? We all know what the ad is implying.
I think you are reading way too much into it. I see ads like this all the time when someone who won a Tony for an acclaimed performance is leaving a show or the show is closing. Would you have reacted the same way if the ad was about Sutton Foster leaving Anything Goes? If you say no because she's in her 30's, then I think it's more your issue than the ads issue.

I don't think it's anymore morbid than Blythe Danner being told "break a leg" in that commercial for whatever osteoporosis medicine it is that she is the spokeswoman for.
I have seen that ad a million times and never caught that
