My short "Fiddler" review

I saw Fiddler tonight while all the hysteria went on at the Gershwin. Harvey is quite good. I can't get past the voice, but he has more of the spirit, as does Andrea Martin, and because of that, the show drags much less than it did with Molina and is much more touching. I cried several times, whereas with Molina, I wasn't affected at all.
I still think Sally Murphy is grieviously miscast as Tzietel, but I enjoyed most of the supporting cast a lot.
Nathan Lane was in the audience, and he looked like he was in a lot of pain. He did sign a couple of autographs for people who approached him at his seat, though.

Posted: 1/10/05 at 10:35amI don't agree. Havey's voice doesn't fit the song, he cannot hit the notes as Molina. His acting is quite good, especially add a lot funny points. But his voice, god, his voice is so hard to enjoy. If I were a rich man makes me feel pain to listen.

I wanted to see Fiddler so bad when I was in NYC cause the girl playing Chava is From Modesto, My home town, and I am starting rehearsals today for Fiddler in Modesto. I will be playing Fyedka.
Bwaytheatre11 i like your quote. John Tartaglia is a great role model and is my idol even though I am not gay.

Not to threadjack, but to answer the question about Lane -- it's surprising that he is even out in public yet after the two herniated discs and the therapy he'll have to undergo to get back on his feet and ready for the Producers movie.
Sitting for two hours in a theater seat is no small task for someone with that kind of injury.
Hope Harvey appreciated the vote of confidence!
Thanks for the update on the show. I'm still not convinced that Harvey is Tevye...though I do love him.
