My GYPSY Experience 7/12

I went to see the show tonight - just got home. The show was amazing. Patti was unbelievable, Boyd was amazing and Laura was gorgeous. Loved it. Sondheim and Arthur appeared during the curtain call. Amazing night!

I did the stage door thing and everyone came out, except Patti. Victor Garber came out and refused to sign my poster when I asked him. Michael Cerveris came out and I asked him to sign the poster, but he wouldn't sign the front - he did sign the back! He was adorable and took a few pictures with others in the crowd. I had everyone sign my poster but was disappointed that I didn't have Mamma Rose's signature. I overheard one of the mothers of one of the kids say the opening night party was at Redeye on the corner of 56th and 7th, so I went over to see what was going on. The party was in full swing, but closed to the public.

Stood around watching what was going on inside, feeling like Stella Dallas at her daughter's wedding.

There is a side door to the restaurant with some outside tables. I could've easily have slipped inside, but was a weenie and didn't. After watching for about 15 minutes, I told the others in my party that this was silly and we should leave. As we started to leave, I see Patti walking out of the side door of the restaurant, dressed in white and surrounded by 4 large men.

She was walking towards me and was talking to the others. I stood right in front of their path and politely asked her to sign my poster.

She smiled and said "Of course." She couldn't have been more gracious. I told her she was wonderful in the show and she thanked me twice. She was really wonderful.

All in all, a great night. I now have my signed poster with the principle cast autographs on the front and Michael Cerveris' on the back!
