She thinks Al Sharpton does 8 shows a week?
He was robbed of a nomination.

Posted: 6/6/05 at 12:40pmAl Sharpton is not in the show. They pick 4 people prior to each performance to be onstage. Take her to see it morosco. The show is wonderful. I saw it 2 weeks ago and plan to go abain when I get back to NYC.

Posted: 6/6/05 at 12:44pmThe Donald would have been the best part of the night. And to go with that tacky theme, they should have had him spell "apprentice."

Posted: 6/6/05 at 1:23pmExactly - would have been great!!!

Posted: 6/6/05 at 1:25pmPlus I believe "the Donald" loves publicity. And I believe he is planning an "Apprentice" broadway show! Would have been perfect! Why can't they come up with these ideas? I'm only an engineer!!!

#11re: My Mom wants to see 'that spelling thing with Al Sharpton'
Posted: 6/6/05 at 1:27pmMy father said the same thing! People are under the impression that Al Sharpton is in the show. My dad was like "Cute show but I don't want to see Al Sharpton". I really really wish they would have introduced each nominated show and given a little background information before each performance. It would have helpped the audience at home alot!
#12re: My Mom wants to see 'that spelling thing with Al Sharpton'
Posted: 6/6/05 at 1:28pmI thought the entire performance was lame and boring. I didn't find one second of it funny.

I saw the show in april and thought the performace last night did a great job of capturing the spirit of the show! And the Al Sharpton addition was hysterical!
Although the Donald would have been priceless!

Posted: 6/6/05 at 1:39pmMunk you & I are usually in synch (as upposed to being N'SYNC), but I thought Bee was the "Money" performance last night-- the only show that made the telecharge phone really ring. My exact words after I stopped laughing was "THAT is how you sell tickets!!"

Actually, it's phylactery.
I loved the performance so much.
I think my brother will want me to take him to see this show.
He keeps bugging me about who the winner is. I haven't peeped, ha.
I'm so glad they included some spelling and Jay Reiss's sentences. Fabulous.

Of all the performances, I thought Spelling Bee's was the most representative of the show and like JoeKv said, that is how you sell tickets. They picked something that could translate well into the Tonys format.
But yeah, I am kind of weirded out that people think Al Sharpton's in the show. Bizarre. They should just had some sort of disclaimer somewhere :0)

I think they should have called him while he was still in the audience. Kind of like what Hugh did last year with SJP.
But I agree, Bee's performance was the most representative of the show. Congrats to that!
