Me 4. I was supposed to see AUGUST, SEAFARER and DEAD this week as well!
Oh well, if the strike continues these shows will NOT open.

I keep wondering about that. If the League does in fact have a $40 million war chest to help producers make it through the strike, and right now, since they don't have to pay stagehands, actors, musicians or anyone else and just have to maintain fixed costs such as insurance (which is relatively nothing) then, why wouldn't shows be able to re-open?
I sure hope that is the case, but these shows have such a small advance, I'm not sure they could survive.
How would they dole out the $40 mill? By need or equal amounts?

No idea. I haven't seen any articles explaining exactly how they're doling out the money, but let's hope if they have that many millions set aside for just this purpose that they won't let any of the current shows die without re-opening.
Agreed! It'll be interesting to see the casualty list come week's end if the strike is still going on.

Yeah. I had tickets for Rock 'N roll this weekend, too. I'll be disappointed if I don't have a chance to see The Seafarer; word of mouth has been positive, with the actors being singled out.
How about August:Osage County ? I will REALLY be disapointed if I dont get a chance to see this one

I guess it depends on whether the strike continues. Even in preview, the house was barely half full, so, unfortunately, it may be shuttersville for that and several other worthy productions (not Xanadu, thank God).

If August: Osage County closes it will be an utter travesty.
I thought it was 20 million. I have been at the opera the past 5 hours, did it go up since then? I do have to say I am not happy with the surcharge the Producers put on our tickets for their "warchest".

Totally agree ! And if I dont get to see it AT LEAST once more, it would be another travesty !!
Amazing show !

I was seeing Seafarer Wed. afternoon and Osage next Sunday, but haven't gotten any word from Telecharge/Broadway Offers yet on tomorrow's matinee. Osage sounded like a Tony contender, and Seafarer, too, at least for one or two of the actors. Are we all assuming tomorrow's matinees are hopeless? It would be awful for these shows to die, I would rather do ticket exchanges than refunds, but I guess that's not an option in these situations because that implies there's a definite future for them...so sad and so frustrating!
^^^ I think tomorrow's matinee is cancelled per frogs' thread (see below)

I have a show next weekend ( The Little Mermaid) I guess , if they cancel the show (which is wayyy too far in advance to predict for now) but in case- if there's still STRIKE next weekend for my Little Mermaid Show. I am just thinking of letting this musical go.. I mean.. I probably wont re-oder anymore tickets for the show. Just wait for the REVIEWS - if its bad... skip it....I should have learn my lesson from GREASE REVIVAL bec. I saw it after it opened.. all the reviews were bad (critics & BWW's posters alike) and gee.. they were RIGHT! It'll save me-- time & money
So I will just wait for TLM- see what happens
I am NOT ORDERING anymore tickets for BROADWAY SHOWS until this strike is RESOLVED.

I hear ya, J*
I wont be ordering any tickets either for the time being (
Yikes. I just got back from Los Angeles (was there Wed - Mon). Thank god I wasn't in NYC when this announcement happened. I'm supposed to see Is He Dead? this Thursday evening...but I guess that won't be happening.
I hope this is resolved soon!!!
Also, I'm really looking forward to reading YankeeFan's MERMAID review...

I'm lookin forward to see it.
Yes, I saw WICKED in LA and it was fantastic. Eden and Megan were better there than in NY. I also saw four AFI Film Festival movies. It was a great trip.
Dont you just loved the PANTAGES theater ?? so beautiful... I saw WICKED in LA too last March. I saw the same cast.. Is John Rubenstein still playing as the Wizard? and they let people in the theater like 1 hour before the show starts.. I thought that was strange!

Yes, the Pantages was gorgeous. I'm so glad I was able to see a show there (and one of my favorites no less). Yes, John Rubenstein is still playing The Wizard and Carol Kane is still playing Madame Morrible. I don't know if they opened the doors an hour before, since my friend and I got there 10 minutes to curtain. We had great seats too Row S Center Section on the aisle. Now I've seen WICKED in five different cities (NYC, DC, Philly, Chicago, LA). London and Australia next (hopefully).
