NEW: 'And I Am Telling You' Video

There is a new video on Jennifer Hudson's website of her singing 'And I Am Telling You' at a different event than the previous video. This one is much clearer compared to the earlier video of her singing the song.

Also, she posts about being compared to Jennifer Holiday in her diary on the same site. I just hope this puts her one more step forward in the running to be seen for the movie or possible revival.

She sounds good,and I know a lot of people on this board are pushing for her for the film of DREAMGIRLS but frankly, I think Bill Condon can find someone more dynamic for Effie.

Well I love this song and I'm certainly open to other versions besides that of Miss Holliday, but I didn't like Jennifer's version. Maybe it was just the concert sound...Just did not connect with it.

I really do not like her as Effie.

Effie needs to be a GREAT actor and put her heart and soul into this show - and this song is the height of the emotional peak that the actress has to have in the show - Jennifer Hudson clearly doesn't have what it takes. She's not singing ABOUT anything - its just a bunch of notes, and it gets really boring after about 30 seconds. Her voice isn't that dynamic either - this doesn't sound easy for her. Sounds like she's pretty limited in her high riffing...and who gives a crap about Effie if it's just some washed up almost-ran showing off a voice. There is much more to this role. And there IS someone out there who can bring something new and exciting to it -- it's just not Jennifer Hudson.

This coming from some of the same people who give HIGH praise to Heather Headly and other such limited singers, with limited ranges and mediocre acting abilities. Then again, that's just my opinion. To each their own, right? I think Jennifer Hudson is great, and with the film being cast with the likes of Beyonce and Usher, it would be a nice change to cast someone who can actually sing.

I can't believe you just said that about her. I'm aware that I'm in the minority here, which doesn't bother me. I know what I heard/saw on a few different occasions. It was okay, bordering on bad. Sorry kids...

Well Heather is clearly out of her element for Lorrell in Dreamgirls. Most of it sits a bit out of her comfortable zone. No comment on her voice otherwise.
