Posted: 3/20/07 at 6:54pmWhy is it so graffiti like? I don't approve and it looks fake, whether it is or not.

Posted: 3/20/07 at 6:54pmThat was quick - got an e-mail saying that it's a fan-created poster.

I don't like it either. It just doesn't look like a movie poster, but rather like some graphic someone just threw together.
Eh, I just looked at it again. I guess it's ok.

Posted: 3/20/07 at 6:59pmIt's fake, it's irrelevant, but it's awesome. Like you said, Capn, if that was the true teaser, I (assuming I'm an average moviegoer with no knowledge of the Hairspray entity) would definitely be interested.

If either this poster or the one seen at ShoWest is the choice to be the poster being distributed to movie theatres, I would say choose this one.
It's almost becoming too late to do "teaser" promotions. The film will be released in four months!! And it has to battle HUGE blockbuster film franchises.

Posted: 3/20/07 at 8:49pmDoes no one else think it mis-represents the show? It looks so much like graffiti to me. It makes it look like a rap comedy or something.

I don't think it looks anything like graffiti.
This is graffiti:
I don't see any similarities between the font used to create this poster and what I see when I Google image search "graffiti."
I think the poster's cute, love the comb as the "I."

Posted: 3/20/07 at 9:15pmAgreed. I think you all have deluded suburban ideas of graffiti. It's okay. If it were a real teaser I think they'd play up more of the cast rather than the movie itself. I don't think the movie will be a HUGE hit, but I think it will be modest. It's got a great book, great music, and the cast is pretty stellar. I'll be interested to see how it plays out.

Posted: 3/20/07 at 9:51pmWhy would a mere poster be the deciding factor to get anyone on this board interested in seeing the film. We all know what the movie is about, the show it's based on, the stars who are in it, etc.

I also don't see the problem with the logo used on that fan created poster - - - it's almost identical to the original one used for the Broadway version. The comb as the "i" is also a nice touch. Whoever put it together did a very nice job. It's nice to see someone that passionate about something that it inspires them to create.
I can understand differences of opinion. What I don't understand is the urgency of some on this board to knock something down so quickly.

people keep referring to it like it's the real deal. nope.
its cute and well made, but it reflects the stage musical and not really the movie.

Well I think it's beautiful. And I can't help but adore Nikki Blonsky. She is cute as a button.
Mateo, do you know if this poster is going to be available for purchase at some point? I would love to hang it up in my apartment.

I like the guy jumping off the bilding in the background, how very John Waters.
One of the things I really like about this poster is the background looks period apropreate, but it's bright enough to catch people attention. Can't wait to see what the official one's gonna look like.

"B*tch, I don't know your life." -Xanadu After that if he still doesn't understand why you were uncomfortable and are now infuriated, kick him again but this time with Jazz Hands!!! -KillerTofu#24re: NEW Official Teaser Poster for HAIRSPRAY Flick!!
