It's nice to see that Isherwood bothered to review their show this season.

I'm really glad he praised Gio Perez's performance, which I thought was just so wonderfully engaging and believable.

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."

I saw this play tonight, and I have to say, I pretty much agree with Isherwood. I really enjoyed the family scenes, and didn't care much for the Father's story. His story seemed a little hokey, and I didn't care for some of the directing choices. The end seemed a little anti-climatic. I wish they had ended the play after the last scene in the kitchen, when the two women are discussing their "lost" ones. And I didn't care for the Bill Clinton sequence. Clinton is such a recognizable human being, and the play is obviously not grounded in realism, nor is it dealing with real people - these are fictional characters, so the idea of having this real human being portrayed by someone else seems out of place. No matter who is acting the part, it's always going to come across as a caricature. But other than that I really enjoyed it. I thought Perez's performance was worth the price of admission alone. Burke and he were fantastic. I loved each of their scenes, and the mother wasn't bad either. I felt like writer made her too sarcastic at the beginning of the play, but I warmed to her by the end. I loved the lighting and the sound, and the set was really interesting, I thought it was a great use of the space. How was "Speech and Debate" set up?
Anyways, I'd def recommend going. It's worth $20 and Perez & Burke's performances.
