I was able to get fairly good seats (Row J -side) yesterday, fairly close to when it opened. International AMEX cards are accepted for the pre-sale.

This is really getting out of hand. There is absolutely no legitimate reason that ANY particular credit-card holder should get advance seats to a show that is currently playing. I want to know what the real purpose is...aren't AmEx users required to pay the balance in full each month? So it's not like they benefit from interest charges.
