New Dramatists 60th Anniversary SPRING LUNCHEON

It's that time of year, and yesterday was New Dramatists 60th Anniversary Spring Luncheon. One of the community's most "star" studded events, this year's luncheon celebrated the life of dramatist HORTON FOOTE. (I had forgotten he received an Oscar for the film adaptation of TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD!) His daughters were on hand to offer a few words as well as other notables; including Edward Albee. In the audience, Angela Lansbury, Chita Rivera, The "3" Billy Elliots, Brian Darcy James,and dozens of this year's Tony nominated producers, performers and writers. There was a brief film tribute to Mr. Foote and a selection of brief readings from the plays of New Dramatist alumni. Michael Dansicker played solo piano (selections including work by Ravel and Copland); and as always, the event was one of the season's classiest affairs.
