On stage....One can wish, personally I think that it's not that uncommon of an idea. I think John Tartaglia as Jack would be kick ass! .....................and me as Sally! One can wish.

John Tartaglia would be great as Jack! I think they've done productions of The Nightmare Before Christmas in some places in the country, but it probably is better as (what's the correct term? Claymation?)

That would be cool. I'm sure they'd use the same music, which is pretty cool. Maybe they can get Baz Luhrman(sp?) to direct it.

Ooooh! It would be so artistic and surreal if Baz directed it! That would be awesome! I'm so excited! Even though it isn't at all definite! Exclamation point!

OMIGOSH, that would be AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and, it would be a return of characters named Lock Stock & Barrell.re: Nightmare Before Christmas
OK if John Tartaglia would play Jack, and Baz would direct, then hypothetically the Michael Leon Wooley could play the Boogie Man and Melissa Errico could play Sally.
Hey, everybody's got the right to their dreams

It would be an awesom show. It is my favorite animated movie of all time. I agree bodywise John Tartaglia would be perfect. But I've never heard him hit the deep notes that are needed for the character. I mean he is very talented. But my biggest concern would be in the more sinister lyrics... Jack Skellington has to have a demonic side to him.

You, you are the worst thing to happen to musical theater since Andrew Lloyd Webber... and you I just don't like you.

I never thought of JT being Jack before that would be cool. I AAD a production of nighmare before x-mas with a bunch of 7-11 years olds it was really funny

I agree about the low notes, but then again we've only really seen him in two roles and there both comedic. Nothing dramatic has come his way yet anyway.

I think it's Lock, Juaqe (damn can't spell, as in french, [Geee-OCK] and Ferrel

Ooooh, Lock (jessica Stone) Juaques (Christopher Fitzgerald) and Ferrel......ELIJAH WOOD!

I think a stage version of The Nightmare Before Christmas would be a wonderful idea! Can't you just imagine how freakin' awesome it would be live? And Eponine Thenardier, I second the casting of Elijah Wood. Yum! :)

Actually, it's Lock, Shock, and Barrel. And I've already claimed the role of Shock for myself. re: Nightmare Before Christmas

They have a Nightmare Before Christmas special event at Disneyland and last year they did a little musical production featuring Ken Page (Ooogie Boogie). It looked awesome. I guess you can't beat Jack and Sally singing "I Got You Babe"

Anyway, I think it would make a wonderful musical. The story and the score are terrific.

I love the fact that it's John Tartaglia whose name has been thrown up. Two seasons ago it would have been Matthew Broderick or another 'in' actor.

Exactly. John Tartaglia is the new Sutton Foster for this board, it seems.

Doesn't a favorite animated movie have to be, you know, animated? 'Nightmare' is no more animated than a Muppet movie.

The process used to film Nightmare Before Christmas is called stop motion animation. So I guess that does make it an animated movie.

thank you... yes in the world of animation it is included. I'm a big cartoon geek, call it holding on to the last bit of my childhood. But yes, legitamitely Stop Motion Animation and claymation are definately considered a form of animation.

I think Julie Taymore should do the costumes. She could probably do something cool with masks and stuff. *dreams*

Danny Elfman wrote the music and is the voice of Jack in the Movie. Very talented used to lead a band 'Oingo Boingo' in the 80's. Went on to do lots of movies (Tim Burton) and the theme from the Simpson's. I would not be surprized to see him write something for broadway.

I do think they should add some more songs if it does come to Broadway. Sally has quite a small part, singing wise.

I also believe A Nightmare Before Christmas would make an absolutely amazing musical. Actually, I remember thinking that quite a few years ago, and I'm surprised no one has turned it into a show yet, considering the other movies that are being Broadway-ified.

I like Baz Lurmann, but I think his visual style is very different from that of Nightmare; he's too sparkles-&-satin for Nightmare's childlike expressionism.

Instead, I think that Julie Taymor would be ideal to direct this - she has the right visual style for it. She's more than just masks and puppets, and if you look at her previous work (like 'Juan Darien' or 'The Green Bird'), you'll notice that her style is very much the same dark-vaudeville design of Nightmare Before Christmas.
