Posted: 11/26/04 at 7:32pmHas anyone see the Oklahoma tour recently? The girl who is playing Laurie went to school with me and was Viola to my Orsino in 12th Night....I'd love to know what you guys thought.

I went to school (Indiana University) with the guy who's playing Jud. We were in "The Singing Hoosiers" together and I replaced him as Lt. Schrank in "West Side Story" when he dropped out to do another show.
And I'm sure that really helps you...anyway, the tour's coming to IU in April or something and I plan to see it then.

I saw the tour about a month ago and Laurey was lovely. Very real, nice voice (although some of the songs rode in a seemingly weird place for her) and an excellent dancer. The ballet was breathtaking.
I was less impressed by the Jud.
Laughter is much more important than applause. Applause is almost a duty. Laughter is a reward.

I saw the tour in September, and I'm acquaintences with one of the dancer girls:) I was really impressed by the Laurey, and the fact that she actually made her a character rather than a generic ingenue. And she was a fantastic dancer!:
There's always room for pathos - and jazz hands.
