well, it was a bust. sorry, beacon. security was intense and i wasn't able to get any good pics or any autographs. i did see the whole cast plus others such as julia stiles, colin farrel, and barbara walters, but only from very far away. hollywood is certainly different than broadway in terms of fan access, i'll tell ya! oh well, at least i have the Bloomie's event to remember...
ETA: oh yeah, and i met ShbtAlley (did i abbreviate that correctly?)--that was cool!

i'm in such a crappy mood. sitting out there for 4 hours for basically nothing was very disappointing
I love that picture. Hope I didn't scare you too much, etheb...I'm not usually that hyper and bizarre. It's only when I'm hoping Miranda's around
And the dumb ho WASN'T!! grrrr
no, hanging out with you guys was the highlight of my evening. hope you find miranda soon!
Thank you, love :) I'm praying she decides to get her butt on Broadway and do some Greek tragedy or something.

Oh ShbrtAlley44, ur crazy (almost as crazy as me)... :)
Beacon1 I gave Patrick your message, he smiled and his group laughed. I got my photo with him. I wanted to only take his photo, but they all insisted I get in the photo. I hope to have them up soon on teh WB board. I will try and post a link over here too.
I got to meet all the leads, Joel and ALW himself. He was very nice. Minnie was funny. She held my cane while I took her photo.
The film was so fantastic to see at the Zeigfeld, everyone was tlaking about how great it sounded and looked on their screen. I think it is showing there starting Dec. 22nd if you can see it there great theatre. We were in about the 5th row and I felt like I was in the film.
They let fans into the premiere in the first few rows. I thought that was nice of Warner Brothers. The cast sat further back. But they were very nice and chatted with anyone who came up to them.
The party was great and it was just a wonderful time in NYC for me:)
Yours,
Carolyn
Beacon is going to DIE when she reads that first paragraph of your posts, Carolyn.
i'm now finding out that tons of fans who were standing across the street ended up getting into the premiere. while i could probably see the stars better from my position behind the press, i would have rather seen the movie itself!

LOL Carolyn...Did you say my first name or "Beacon" (I like to keep track of how I'm stalkering--er--admiring him.) LOL

And, I just noticed that Carolyn was so sweet to not say that Patrick's smile was accompanied by tears welling up in his eyes.
LOL.
I can't wait for Barefoot in the Park. He HAS to sign to do it.
And, I can't wait to see POTO. My boss keeps teasing me because I play the 2-CD set over, and over and over and over.
Oh well...its better than a life of crime!

I told him Beacon and your first name:) I think he was tired.
More on the POTO Premiere...The Zeigfeld theatre is so great for this type of film. I wish they had gooten more Golden Globe nominations. I think GB deserves a nod. I know he is going up against a strong group of actors and he is pretty unknoown. But he does such a great job. It was so great to see the film in a real theatre and not a screening room. Can't wait to see it again on Dec. 22 here in Las Vegas:)

I cannot tell you what it was like meeting ALW after all these years of being a fan of his music. He was so nice and interested in what we had to say about the film. I did not realize he was there until I turned around. Gerry was so nice too, and Patrick all of them were nice. Had a chat with everyone, ate great food and then we had to leave as we had early flights back home. I am very tired.
My photos. sorry they are not the best, I only took one. The one of Joel:)

Doesn't POTO do Sunday night performances? Maybe that's why.
POTO is dark on Sundays
I was thinking of Mondays, then.
Hm... in that case, I'm wondering with beacon!
I think Hugh might have not attended as it would tak away from the film's Phantom. I would like to think that was why, he did not come. Other Phatnom cast members were there. But Hugh might have seen the film. so many people were there he could have snuck in avoiding the Red Carpet. After all it was the films casts night, not the stage production.
Most actors do not like to take the limelight away from people playing the same part and then being asked what did you think of the actor playing your part? That question is always there and I know it upsets other actors to be asked. After all one is live stage and the other film. Then the question what do you think of not getting to do the film? Which if they see the film they know the characters are a bit different in style than the stage version. That is why I think people need to go into the film and forget the stage version and watch the film, then compare it ot the stage version if they want. To me they are like night and day. Films can do more with scenes than what you can do on a live stage.
Yours,
Carolyn

Very well said, Carolyn, especially that last sentence. While there is nothing quite like the experience of a show live on stage, movies can do things that plays can't because of the limits of the stage.
