Doyle is now recycling shows where the cast always was the band?
What can we hope for next? Reruns of Smoke On The Mountain, Oil City Symphony, and Cowgirls?

Posted: 10/22/12 at 11:44amI haven't seen it in years, but I don't remember the show dealing with the economy. Dolly Parton-induced wet dreams, yes, but not the economy.

take good care of you
The problem with the show is that it's an expanded cabaret act that never really gelled as a show.

"why do they think this will have any kind of life on Broadway"
low production costs and they can market it to tourists.
They could cycle every country music star through this show for years to come.

"Does Deb Monk still get residuals?"
Does that determine whether you will buy a ticket or not? You're not gonna deny Deb the 50 cents she will make off your ticket are you?

No denial, I would give Deb all my money but I bet she's made a nice little bundle off this show all these years.

Posted: 10/22/12 at 3:15pmThe show does seem to do well with both community and professional companies across the country, so there is some appeal to audiences in it. Now whether or not they can translate that into a way to bring in the tourist crowd to sustain a long run is another question entirely.

I'm with joey on this one. The show didn't change my life, but given the options of small-cast musicals, one can certainly do worse.
