What time should I get there just to be safe? I am going to go tomorrow morning for the matinee performance. Also, what type of tickets have you gotten and at what time were you able to purchase them? Thanks!

Having JUST done this....
Box office opens @ 1000. I was there by 8 & was 1st in line but it was bitter cold and u REALLY gotta want tickets! 9 am would prob be ok but not later (this is for the matinee, 3pm is for the eve performances) I got a single dead centre row 3 . Some people do not like being so close, I don't have a problem. They offer u best avail 1st and there are NO discounts. (I think there are some student rush but its SRO)
I enjoyed the show but still think the price was out rag eous!

#6re: Pajama Game cancellation line -- PLEASE HELP
Posted: 3/10/06 at 10:03pmKinda. I think its mostly SRO and the woman behind me trying to get her kid a tkt had a terrible time & finally walked away(course SHE had her kids ID so I think she overcomplicated the situation)

I'm bumping this thread, because I may possibly be trying this.
If I wanted to get tickets for this Sunday's performance. Because it is the one before the Tony's, will the line be more crowded? What time would be the best to get there?
Also, is it only cancellation or is there standing room and student rush available as well?

Posted: 6/5/06 at 4:05pmIt's only cancellation. There is no student rush or SRO. Children under 18 pay half price. IF you get there at 8:00 you'll be first in line. On Saturday I got there at 9:20, was 25th on line and got 5th row in the mezz at 10:40. Get there at 8 and you'll get a ticket right at 10.

Posted: 6/5/06 at 4:35pmI JUST did this last Friday. We were going for the evening performance, obviously, and got there around 6. We were the 5th and 6th people in line, and they only ended up handing out 6 cancellation tickets so we were lucky. When we went to the window, we showed them our student ID's and we got tickets for $47. We ended up with 10th row aisle seats in the orchestra.

Posted: 6/5/06 at 5:07pmShould I bring my student ID, or will they just figure that I'm under 18(seeing that I'm 14, but look about 12 or 13)

You must bring your student ID. Whatever tix they have available through cancellation they will sell you for 50% off.
EDIT: You don't have to be under 18 to take avantage of the student discount.

Yes you do have to be under 18 to be eligible for the half price tix anytime in advance. The student rush is only a half hour before curtain. So good luck that something will come up at that time. If your under 18 you don't need a student ID just identification, like a passport or birth cert to prove your under 18.

Posted: 6/5/06 at 5:38pmOh, didn't know that. When I stood in the cancellation line I didn't get a ticket until 5 minutes before curtain (after waiting in line for almost four hours) so lucky me because that also meant I got 10th row orchestra for 50 bucks. :)

Posted: 6/5/06 at 5:42pmOk. Now I'm confused. Is this correct: In order to get the student rate of 50% off, you have to be 18 or younger if you're buying tickets in advance. But if you are a student older than 18, you can line up and get a cancellation ticket 30 minutes before show time at 50% off, with a student ID? Is that the consensus?

Posted: 6/5/06 at 5:49pmYes, but the chances of a ticket popping up half hour before curtain is slim and you would HAVE to be first on line. So what you would have to do is line up pretty early. Then when you get to the front of the line say you want the student discount. Then you must stay infront while letting people behind you who will pay full proce ahead of you until hopefully a half hour befor e curtain something pops up that you can snatch. Now rememeber the odds of getting it are slim and theres only 8 performances left. So good luck

Yes, it would be tricky to plan it....no guarantees. However, several people (at least 5) who had tickets to the Saturday matinee performance I attended cancelled tickets as they arrived to see the show (a half an hour prior to curtain). And three people tried to sell thier tickets to those of us still waiting in line for full price. So, difficult, yes. But not impossible. I say go for it!

Posted: 6/5/06 at 6:53pmI did the Weds. matinee cancellation line a couple of weeks ago, and I got there around 8:30. I ended up being maybe the 10th-12th in line. One bunch of tickets were sold at 10 (perhaps 8-10), and then another group were sold at 10:20 which is when I got mine (10th row, slightly to the side). It's total luck, though.

Posted: 6/5/06 at 7:10pmIt's not TOO difficult to get tickets half an hour prior to the show. Like I said before, that's what I did, and the first 6 people got tickets. And this was on a Friday night, so I would say get there early and you will have a chance.

Posted: 6/5/06 at 10:06pmWhat about the extended week? Will I have to pay 125 will the student discount since tickets will be 250 and over? I want to try cancellation maybe for the 16th or 17th of June.

Posted: 6/5/06 at 10:12pmumm I would think not because its a benefit performance, but you should probably ask in the box office to make sure.
