Hi all -
Does anyone know how I can get to the PaperMill Playhouse from the city by public transportation? I have never been there, believe it or not, and I would like to go and see "Baby" there. Could anyone give me directions? Thanks a bunch!
Cheers,
The Balladeer
It is very easy, NJ Transit train from Penn station to Millburn, NJ stop. It take around 45 min or so. The Playhouse is a ten minute walk from train. Not an expensive train ride.

there is also an express bus that goes straight there from Port Authority - I've done it and got there in time for a matinee - i think it was faster than the train. I can't remember the name of the bus line but i'm sure if you call Papermill they can tell you - sometimes the cast uses that bus.
It might not still be going tho - i haven't done it in a coupla years - things change.

The hard part about Paper Mill isn't getting there but getting back. Late at night trains run only hourly and I have sat in the cold and dark at that station for 55 minutes. And then the train I took dead-ended at Hoboken instead of coming into Penn. I got home after 1:00.
I always try to go to a weekend matinee. Then you won't be stuck out in the boonies. People who went to the production of Follies missed the last train and had to take a rather pricey cab ride.
Have fun.

From Manhattan, both the NJ Transit bus or train work well. I would agree that matinee performances are the more convenient than evening shows that end late. Many places in town to have lunch then see a show and get back to Manhattan before 6pm.
