Personally, I don't think anyone who is playing Carnegie Hall has a star that has dimmed.

Posted: 3/5/05 at 3:51pmShe's not too kind to stage managers. She's yelled at the Evita stage manager and at the Noises Off stage manager. Seems like there's a pattern developing here.

Posted: 3/5/05 at 3:54pmI don't think her star has dimmed, I just think she isn't around as much. She's still popular, and I imagine just as talented. ABout the stage manager thing, she's niether the first nor the last of that kind of Diva.

Posted: 3/5/05 at 3:56pmI think she's fantastic, but she does get into the habit of talking about how there's no work for her on B'way, and I worry that it becomes a sel-fulfilling prophecy. Still, I will always make the effort to see her, whenever possible. I know somebody who worked with her in a backstage capacity and said she was fine.

Posted: 3/6/05 at 5:49pmVery fascinating article. I would be seeing "Regina" if I wasn't on Spring Break. I really respect Patti, although she seems a bit hostile at the fact that Bernadette has nabbed the last two Merman roles. BP is possibly my favorite actress and I think she was marvelous as Annie and Rose. I still see Patti returning to Broadway in the future. But, like Bernadette, I think it's time someone wrote something new for her.

I found this article very sad. I love Patti, but I do think there is a bit more to the story than the article lets on.
I do think her major misfortune was to come into maturity at the exact moment when the showcase 'big lady' roles were no longer being written.
Her dissapointment over GYPSY is palpable.
