So for once I am extremely glad Broadwayworld posts their news articles. It was because of an item I read this morning that I found out Patti LuPone is kicking off her show, Gypsy In My Soul, this week. And she's starting Saturday night here. In Las Vegas of all places. A little note: besides (extremely) tired Broadway shows (Mamma Mia, Phantom, The Lion King, Jersey Boys) absolutely nothing comes to Vegas. So I was more than shocked to see that Patti of all people will be here this weekend.

So now a few minutes after reading that, guess who's going on Saturday to see LuPone's first night?

I'm going to the show in Atlantic City, too!

mormon, you have to come back and report to us. I was listening to an interview she did today and I know she's singing "The Gypsy in My Soul," natch, "Come to the Supermarket in Old Peking," and "Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered," but I'm really excited to see what else she'll perform. I happen to think she has pretty good taste in music (judging especially from Matters of the Heart and the few comments she's made about what bands and musicians she likes), so I'm looking forward to seeing what non-showtunes she sings.

When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain. -Kad

This is good news...thank god she got away from Mandy. Hopefully, she will announce even more dates.

That article lead me to her website, where I found out that she's bringing 'Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda" to Minneapolis exactly a year from today! I am beyond thrilled!

Patti will be doing a show in Westchester, NY in October, about 5 minutes from my house. I'll be doing my best to attend that. It's not too far from the city for anyone who lives in the city and wants to come.

I'm seeing her in Greensboro, NC. I am *SHOCKED* she is coming directly to the city where I live. Not the typical choice for an NC city. But it's part of the UNCG Concert/Lecture Series so I guess it makes sense. In recent years they have had Chita Rivera, Betty Buckley, and Lily Tomlin.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."
