Just thought everyone would want to know. The Original Broadway Cast Recording of Paul Simon's THE CAPEMAN, which was only released to Tony voters is finally available on iTunes. Just do a search for THE CAPEMAN and it brings it up. $19.98 for the whole 2 disc recording.
It sounds AMAZING! They must have digitally remastered/remixed the cd... it sounds SO much better than the original "release"...
"You F***ed Up My Life" is one of my new guilty pleasures.
"Time Is An Ocean" is still a great song.

Haha! This will also be the first thing I have paid for from iTunes (I've only downloaded free episode of TV shows). It makes sense though. It doesn't cost them anything, the tracks were already cut. If they made a CD there'd be a large investment in manufacturing the CDs, booklets, and getting them out to stores.
Hopefully they will also do this with Smile, Shelter and Ring of Fire.

Yay!!! I loved the Capeman. Can you believe I had the biggest crush on Marc Anthony after that?
You can buy the actual CD of the Capeman, or last I knew you could.
the CD previously available was the concept recording with the songs performed by Paul Simon...... not the full Original Broadway Cast. It's about time they released this!
Okay sorry, I thought that's the one you were talking about. I got that version with my Paul Simon box set. I'll have to buy the other one now, I love the show!
how do i buy this on itunes? i have no clue what i'm doing. thanks!
Just go to the music store, search The Capeman, and click on the "buy" button. It'll ask for your credit card if you haven't put it in already....
I bought it this morning, but haven't gotten around to listening to it yet.
got it, thanks! i will listen to it on the train ride into manhattan tomorrow morning.
I think the sound is better on the original CDs I got a few years ago...maybe its because they are on CD so it's a higher bit rate than the 128 kps on Itunes. Glad the rest of the world will get to hear it though.
Apparently, because I'm in the UK, I am not allowed to purchase this album. Which is erm... well, it sucks for me. ;_; Does anyone know of a way for a UK dweller to make a purchase from US iTunes?

Oh, c'mon!
The show is through-sung. The version on the disc is from approximately the middle of previews - the recording is essentially the Mark Morris version of the show before Jerry Zaks came in and made significant cuts. I saw the show about a month before opening, and the version on the CD is basically what I saw with one additional song ("Christmas In The Mountains" had been cut.)
There is no spoken dialogue, so the released CD is a complete performance (of one version of the show.)
