got this from the press release I saw in my office:
People can go to the Box Office, 2 hours before the show, with cash only and pay what they can for up to 2 tickets, space available. Designed for students, low-income folks, and people who want to come back every week, to see Rick Crom's new material and their looney cast of characters.
Regular priced tickets can still be bought thru TicketMaster or discounted tickets at the TIXXS booth.

They say, its a way of giving back to the City. They are up and running for 5 months and are celebrating. The man at the box office said "The winter and Thursday nights are slow, so why not, give back a little"
There tickets are $60. and discounted by half at TIXXS, I guss there not expecting 59 cents a ticket but who knows. I guess i'll give them a $20, (I can afford that) I'm sure some students will be going for a buck or 2 each. But hey, thats what they said. whatever you can pay...

If only Avenue Q and Forbidden Broadway did that.
Then life would be great.

There is a theatre in my city called The Empy Space Theatre that runs ENTIRELY off donations. All shows are free (there is a donation jar at the door
) and in the past 2 years they have done over 50 shows (including late-night shows). The theatre is great, and you can pay however much/ if you want to. And the shows dont suck either! They did a Cabaret, and it was sooo good.
I think it really goes to show you that theatre should be accessable to everyone. It is a great enviroment and it gives a chance to people who would not ususally have the opportunity to see the theatre, to really enjoy it.
