Was at the museum of TV and Radio yesterday and happened to catch this wonderful episode of the Muppet show. The final skit was great. The whole show everyone was preparing for this final skit, which was going to be the jousting scene from "Camelot." However, Kermit receives a call at the last minute that the writers of Camelot won't allow them to use joustic music unless they are paid. Kermit has no money and wants to cancel the skit, but the rest of the muppets won't let that happen, so they do the skit with lots of other random showtunes playing...
the very first song they sang was "Ascot Gavrotte" from My Fair Lady...written by L&L, who wrote Camelot! Why would they let them use that but not camelot? Me thinks it's a Muppet oopsy.
Anyway, then Pearl Bailey played the queen and she came out to welcome everyone singing hello...errr something that wasn't dolly but was the song. Then the two knights were Floyd and Gonzo, they each were introduced and came out w/ horses, and one started singing about how great their horses were and how "he's got a horse right here, his name is Paul Revere" and another phrase is used and rhymed w/ Queen Guinevere...then seemingly out of nowhere Miss Piggy runs up to Floyd to warn him to be careful because "A boy like that would kill your brother"
Finally the joust occurs to the gypsy overture and when they both fall at the end Gonzo asks Pearl how they look and she responds..."you...look...swell. you look great." and everyone eventually joins in and ends the skit with "Everything's coming up roses." Then at the end everyone discusses how the skits and songs made no sense, omg it was hysterical. Just wanted to share.
It's a joke for adults. Much like in Willy Wonka when the musical lock is played and the teacher claims it's Rachmaninoff (when actually - it isn't)
