Overall, i thought they were lacking.

First off, I thought it was a SIN that they cut out whole sections of Bernadette's awesome rendition of a Cole Porter classic to play clips of the songs along with each show's video clip. Bernie did well. The rest of the opening number was frentic and confusing and really dumb.

Next, Hugh's wacko medley was entertaining, but much too long and VERY bizarre...i mean, he sang like, three seconds of everything ever written (exagerration, obviously, but that's what it felt like).

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, HOORAY for Norbie! However, i think they should have at least tried to showcase John and Sherie too. All About Ruprecht would have been a nice choice, possibly. ANyway, it was great, and hooray Norbie.

Light In The Piazza. Everyone sounds disappointed, but I was ENTRHALLED by O'Hara's and Clark's MAGNFICIENT vocals...especially the former. HOORAY.

Sweet Charity. Big Spender was HIGHLY entertaining for the thirty seconds it ran. I thought Christina danced her bloody heart out and did well in that aspect, but she was VERY pitchy. In fact, I think she was oversinging, trying to show off volume and therefore losing pitch, a dire mistake. I would have like her more with a soft voice that was on key. Those costumes for "Brass Band" are HEINOUS and that's all I've got to say about that. Afterwards, i was singing along, so it wasn't all bad.

La Cage. Truly the only awe-inspiring showcase of the evening...wow those boys can DANCE.

Spelling Bee was HILARIOUS and ADORABLE. I thought it was a very funny and well-thought out performance, but i would have liked to see Keenan-Bolger front and center.

Jesse M. Martin did well. A bit pitchy at times, and i don't think the song showcased his talent very well, but it was nice to see a little Ebb tribute. Very good.

Spamalot was...well...less than impressive. Sara belted the hell outta that song, which was awesome, but it just seemed very slow paced and the minimalist-looking set for Radio City did NOT help. They should have done a different song.

Aretha and Hugh....ummm Aretha looked like a metallic oriental rug. Their voices did not mesh (at ALL). Aretha should have sang it alone and it still was not that impressive...she's gettin really old and her voice is starting to show it. Still, it's Aretha and we gotta love her! She did pretty well. Mary J. Blige was still better though and Hugh shoulda sat that one out.

Well ,that's all I have to say (and it's quite a bit). Fell free to express your thoughts!

It should have been sung by Jackman and Streisand. Is she EVER going to appear on the Tonys??
