Dont you think Ken Russell would have done an amazing job with this movie? After watching "Tommy" and "The Boy Friend" he is like my favorite director.

I think just about anyonce besides Joel Schumacher would have done better.

After seeing RENT, I think Chris Columbus would have done an excellent job.

Um, Chris Columbus sucked the soul out of RENT, it blew chunks.

I agree that anyone besides Joel Schumacher would have been better for the Phantom movie

well at least Rent had 80% of its main original cast members from the stage production

Given Ken Russell's film history, a show like Phantom would be right up his alley. It would have been surpassing strange, though. However, it was Schumacher that made it. In my opinion, he couldn't make up his mind whether he wanted a moody and intimate, character-driven show or a spectacle. In the end, he got neither.

Spike Lee should have directed "Rent" and either Coppola or Scorsese should have directed "Phantom"...

children&art, whatever you do, don't try to sit through Ken Russell's screen bio of Tschaikovsky, "The Music Lovers." He will no longer be your favorite director.
