So I'm thinking of trying to see the (sunday) matinee 'Phantom' today and haven't been in a couple years...Has anyone been recently that could comment on the current cast?
Also, if I get TKTS tickets, will they be good seats?

Posted: 10/28/12 at 8:56amI can't comment on the current cast because I haven't seen the show since last May, but you should know that Phantom is dark on Sundays.

Last I saw Phantom on Broadway was in June, 2007. Last time I saw Phantom at all was the 2nd to last performance of the Music Box Company here at the Pantages back on Halloween, 2010. This show works best visually sitting up close. I sat 10th row at the Majestic in 2007 and expected to love our seats since it is an intimate theatre. We had the first row of the section just behind the main orchestra section that is elevated and offers unobstructed views of the stage and stage deck with all its candles. It wasn't bad, but it was just far enough where I felt detached, unlike the times I've seen it up close and felt a part of the action. It was one of the most beautiful views of the show I've experienced though, being just far enough to see every stage 'picture' without having to pan your head around to take it all in.
If you're like me and prefer to be right in front of the action and you get a surreal sense when it appears you're dreaming with your eyes open being so close, then splurge and get a top ticket. Dead center isn't as important as being up close.
If you enjoy feeling like an audience member and seeing the whole picture, get the section just behind the main orchestra section.
If you want to see a series of moving things with a bunch of ants dodging them and flashlights flickering on and off randomly, sit up in nosebleed section. XD
