Nothing of substance yet, but still potentially interesting news on a possible Goonies Bway adaptation!?

God, I hope not...

I'd go to see it. I think it's a hell of a better pick than Xanadu.

....Xanadu, wtf.

Going to a musical late in its run is like going to a prostitute late in her shift.

I think someone did a verison a couple years ago at the new musical festival..

I love Goonies.. I would love to see this run.. Off Broadway would be a better place for it.. Perhaps New World Stages.. Sooo good. DO IT

Let's not stop at GOONIES. I say we turn all the great 80's kids flicks into musicals. After this one, how about RAD and SPACE CAMP???

Edit - The musical you guys are thinking of was called "Save the Goondocks" and was part of NYMF (I believe) in 2004. Updated On: 3/29/07 at 09:50 AM

This is Guettel's next project. And Martha Plimpton has signed on to reprise her role. I'm excited!

Goonies wouldn't work, but I think that The Breakfast club, the musical could hold potential.

This show would have to be HUGE -- think of the settings involved: the underground caves, the booby traps, One-Eyed Willie's pirate ship, etc.

OurTime, I was thinking the same thing. It would have to be quite a spectacle for it to work. The concept is intriguing, though. I loved this movie as a teenager!

By the way, OurTime, is your screen name a reference to the Sondheim song, or the line from 'The Goonies' where Sean Astin says, "It's OUR TIME...down here!"? re: Possible Goonies Bway adaptation?

I'm envisioning some big ballad during the wishing well scene (do you think Sondheim would let them use "Our Time"??) and then a big "Goonies 'R' Good Enuf" megamix at the end.

I have a hard time watching kids in supporting roles, the thought of this is just not something I would have any interest in.

LoringsGuy, the answer is BOTH! When my friends and I graduated from high school a decade or so ago, we were really into Merrily We Roll Along. "Our Time" was like our theme song (I know, how full of ourselves...). Around that time we watched The Goonies again, and the synchronicity (happy coincidence) was just too good to be true. We quoted that line ALL the time. My screen name was born a few years later (the 99 being 1999; the 2 because I was an idiot and signed up for BWW twice). So this thread is sort of a bizarre coincidence that links those things back together in the most unlikely way. Thanks for asking!

"Space Camp The Musical" There are no words...that would be GENIUS...

there could be a duet between max and the robot Jinx, complete with a little tap break...

how would one accomplish the pivitol scene of Andy getting hurt while trying to connect the oxygen tank and then floating outside the space shuttle?
